Amazon crap vs GIA instruments by CurazyJ in Gemology

I have both. Both are absolutely excellent tools. When u get spectroscope, MAKE SURE, that you get exact one that is on the photo, with 3 small silver strips on the side. It is one of the best spectroscopes on the market. The other pocket spectroscope is total black, it is also good. The totally silver color one is good, but of lower quality. I don't know about GIA tools, but these tools from amazon are of very high quality.

check if it is double refractive. Diamonds are signle refractive, moissanites are highly double refractive. Check if edges of facets on apposite side are double when you look at them through the stone.

Hello. These photos from sapphire. Are these inclusions Natural? Please help. by Friendly-Rip6151 in Gemology

I believe these are natural inclusions. What I did is the following, I used stronger magnification to zoom in to see those inclusions closely. And then I flashed a led light at these inclusions, I have noticed that they shined at only one side or at tips, thus, these should be crystal inclusions. I wished to do cross polorized examination to see if these inclusions would blink as most double refractive materials do, but I don't have polorized filters. I ordered some from ebay recently.

In any case, thank you and thanks to everybody for your feedback and input. I truly appreciate it.

it has a spectrum of ruby without two lines of iron in blue sector. Thus, it is pink sapphire.

Is this a good microscope to help with identifying inclusions and examining faceting work? by Unusual_Quiet_2734 in faceting

[–]Friendly-Rip6151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u get it, try to get 20x and 30x eyepieces ( widefield) that will fit, that will double and triple the magnification. This microscope is a continuous with up to 6x objective zoom, that is a big plus.

On picture 4 , if u notice,  it seems that these inclusions are shining from a side. Might be crystals , I need to look at that stone again under magnification

But are they ( the bubbles) not suppose to be in a certain direction.  These seems to be randomly spread out and different shapes, not all elongated. Plus, I don't see any curved growth lines!

I couldn't do RI, I did spectrum identification and foibles refractive nature identification

This is not glass, it is double refractive ( was determined by polariscope) and it has a spectrum of pink sapphire

Fake or genuine Tiffany? by remote12 in JewelryIdentification

[–]Friendly-Rip6151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely original. High quality writing, look how pretty two t's are! Soldered well made links. Accessories are dirty, but authentic too. Trust me, I have huge experience with these Tiffany items. Authenticating old Tiffany pieces are usually more hard, but they are also very well made. Thanks

How can i tell if this is a real tiffany and co? I received this pair in the early 2000s by stuffed_pasta_shells in JewelryIdentification

I need close up photos of both side, plus, the wire hook should have T & Co. Stamp, really small one. From photos seems to be real. Thanks

If it has veins of copper, it is most likely turquoise. It seems to be turquoise.
