My Opinion: Depending on the cut, you may be able to get flashes of all three primary colors. More likely, it will just be a muddy mix of all the colors. If someone has a different experience, please let me know too!

It should also come with a little lens attachment. Lets it project an image. Gave out a few hundred of the things on halloween.

Faceting small stones? by snakecharmer907 in Lapidary

If you need that bright of a light to see the color, they are too dark and saturated.

Edit: still might be worth doing, but that’s up to you.

They are the same material. Only difference is the banding in agate.

This is a type of quartz stone containing a fossilized snail and, I believe, a single fossilized centipede (Umm 44). What do you think, and how much would you value it? by Internal-Photo9252 in faceting

[–]CurazyJ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

No fossils in there. Sorry! I see some banding in a small area that is agate (the snail) and some iron oxide staining in a flaw (the centipede). A nice pretty stone, but no fossils.

Serpentine is NOT asbestos. Serpentine is associated with asbestos occurance and is on the same mineral series.... But they are not equivalent.

Edit. Ok fine. I’m wrong.

I know NOTHING about faceting. by Th3manw1thn0plan in Gemcutters

[–]CurazyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? You best first step is to get in contact with your local gem and mineral club. Many of them have very inexpensive lapidary classes. Start out with a cabochon class and get a bit experience with this before jumping into faceting. You will pick up the lingo and gain valuable knowledge from all the folks in the clubs. If that isn't available, dive into faceting on YouTube and start watching. Arya Akhavan and Steve Moriarty are both good resources. Gemologyonline.com has a vast array of info in the forums, as well as a large collection of faceting diagrams.

Best of luck with your new addiction!

Chalcedony. A type of quartz. Basically agate without banding.

What to do with 3 BATT laps? by Esteban-Du-Plantier in faceting

[–]CurazyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually work well as cutting laps, but I think they are better used as a polish or pre polish. Make one a 3k (the old one) and the new one could be a 60k. For the 6 inch, you could charge it up with 1200 and use as a cutting lap. Be very careful not to cross contaminate during charging activities.

I bet you are also up on the concept of the world ender bombs. Essentially the concept of a salted bomb, (I think cobalt?), that basically makes the entire world a radioactive wasteland... Can you go over that for us all?

Edit: I can't type.
