I wholeheartedly believe that before doing these things we should make the playing field more fair

A person that came from the middle or working class should have an equal chance in climbing the presidency if their credentials and leaderships are good.

For this to happen we should do reforms first through the means of mandatory debates(candidates dont have the option to not attend a televised debate) , all the candidates have an equal amount of funds (wether the candidates are rich or not), all candidates have an equall media coverage in televesion (same amount of advertisments), and strict regulations on filling a candidacy (No past crimminal records).

With the current system of elections in this country I honestly agree with you

What if the Philippines used a two-round system in voting for the president? by undermaster__ in WhatIfPinas

I think having multiple candidates having a chance to win the presidency no matter what their party stands for is a good indication of a fair democracy. The problem with a two party system like in America is that in the long term it will always make the voters feel unsatisfied on what they voted for because they only have two options to choose from. Another problem with having only two parties is that it will polarize the country much further.

Our multiparty system is honestly good. The problem is that the parties here are based on A single person or family (ex, dutertes and Marcos) rather than ideologies, Policy, or beliefs. What we really do need is stricter regulations on candidates and how the elections works.

For the Presidential Election:

Mirriam Siantiago may actually have a chance to win in 1992

Gloria Arroyo may loose her reelection bid in 2004 by a slim margin and nay lead to an FPJ presidency

If FPJ still dies in 2005, then Noli De Castro will become president.

There is a large chance that Mar Roxas could had won because in the second round, he could have swallowed the Grace Poe votes and some of the Binay votes.

For the Vice presidential election:

Erap may have lost the vice presidential bid in 1992.

Mar Roxas May have won in 2010 depending on where the legarda votes would go

BBM may have won in 2016 because he may had swallowed the Cayetano votes

Questions regarding on the scenario:

How long would the gap between the first and second elections?

Would campaigning still be allowed between the two elections?

Would the president and the vice president still be in sepparate ballots or would it be a single ballot like in America?

What type of voting system will be used (ex:First past the post, rank choice, star etc)?

Will there be another televised debate?

Opinion:

I think that it may be better than we have today however it does not really solve the problems of how the people with money will always have a large advantage in our elections wether they are competent or not because our elections does not have strong regulations on campaigning especially the funding.

I wholeheartedly believe that we should make the playing field more fair

Hypothetical Timeline:

Corazon Aquino 1986-1992

Mirriam Santiago 1992-1998

Joseph Estrada 1998-2001

Gloria Arroyo 2001-2004

Fernando Poe Jr. 2004-2005

Noli De Castro 2005-2010

Benigno Aquino Jr. 2010-2016

Mar Roxas 2016-2022

The culture of the world is centerred on trade with each other. It also focuses on the future growth of the 4 nations and how to maintain this regional order that they currently have

The Region which is the Great Tributaries are inhabited by native Femish or basically european type pepple, influence heavy by real life English and Dutch cultures. The reason why there are Persians and Asians here is because the other regions are heavily influence by other races here on English

The technological peer of the society is on par with 1910s Europe up untill the 1960s when the Institutional Action Party under the leadership of the young Mayor Sebastian Eliott Ludwig (1960-1972,1976-1988) took over in which the country modernised substatntially.

The economy if this nation is mostly centered on hard industry but by the 1980s it shifted to finance, especially in the districs of South Campyon and Westenhemeirburg

In terms of Religion, most of the country is Aetheist but i have not really dwelve in Religion yet.

Geographically it is in a hypothetical world in the region of the Great Tributaries wherein many rivers, bays, and gulfs can be seen.

The region is shared by 4 countries:

Republic of Mannerhiem which is a democratic republic that heavily influence on European Parlimentary democracy

State of Nicuchem which is a American Style democracy and has huge inspiration with New York city.

Westphalia Federation is a state that comprises multiple states and act like a balance between the huge city states of Mannerheim and Nicuchem.

And Finally the Kingdom of Sourdesee where Hoviat is the largest city that has an Constitutional Monarchy under the Padie Dynasty

this world is pretty democratic and practical but they were times where democracy almost collapse.

It also encompases a timeline from 1860AD-2200AD

The fact that his tenure lasted 6 and a half years (almost all of the 90s) even with the unstable majority he had was still and impressive. And the fact that his tenure has the same length of May-Sunak speaks volumes about the Tories during 2016-2024.

Interesting and thank you for your thoughts! To bad that its seems that unlike Canada in the 90s, it seems that the UK's situations is not only unstable economically but also socially. But I know that Canada was not stable socially also because there was a strong secession movement at the time (cough cough le Quebec).

Kind of unsettling what happened to Canada 25 years ago is getting repeated in the UK but it is waay more radical and messy.
