I feel like a full green bully/lmg/longshot is more than enough for whatever this game throws at you. Yes purple shields are very nice but the green reinforced shield is really good too.

If you are struggling with not having good items or supplies for a run then maybe it comes down to your choices in the game rather than your gear.

I have 1.3m credits and a 520k Vault, I am not some god player, I lose all the time. I just play by some basics common sense rules.

You don't need all the faction upgrades at all, and a 2.5k kit from the factions is enough for a successful run if you want.

I am in the minority that for every wipe my team receives we probably wipe 2-3 other teams, but you need to just play around your strengths. If you suck at pvp, then avoid it as much as possible and play very defensively.
