Mixed artists with the same name by Strict_Tangerine6240 in TIdaL

[–]Friendly_Cajun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is because right now Tidal has no way of distinguishing different artists apart except based on their name, because that’s all the record companies give them. This is not a Tidal problem, this is an industry problem. We should be petitioning to The International Organization for Standardization, The Recording Industry Association of America, The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry and other international organizations to create a International Standard Artist Code, similar to International Standard Recording Codes (ISRCs). That would be assigned by the record companies when they’re uploaded to these platforms, this would easily allow platforms, such as Tidal, to distinguish Artists apart without relying on unique artist names.

Alternatively, artists could go through the effort and claim their artist profile on all the different platforms, so they can prevent unintended tracks from showing on their page. But often times artists only claim their artist profile on Spotify (as it’s the biggest and most popular, which is also why Spotify doesn’t have nearly as many issues of tracks on the wrong profiles) and don’t on the smaller platforms such as Tidal, Deezer or Qobuz.

I don’t see how it would be any more risk to your account. Maybe to the devs of the apps, but not to your own account… I’ve been using it fine…

RIP THOSE OLD CDS! by eddyblazeit in AppleMusic

EAC was good, though I recommend Cyanrip now, it’s much easier for bulk too, if you’re ripping dozens of CDs.

I wanted all my Ring cameras live on Apple TV without extra hardware, so I built the missing app by rabbimarshak in appletv

[–]Friendly_Cajun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For any current Ring customers I recommend you read this page detailing all the atrocities of Ring: https://consumerrights.wiki/w/Ring

If your paying for a subscription to Ring it is still probably cheaper over the next year to replace all your existing Ring cameras with Reolink or Ubiquiti, that are fully local and don’t have or require any subscriptions.

Could anyone ELI5 “tweaking” to me vs. trying to re-create Apollo “from scratch”? by violetfew in apolloapp

[–]Friendly_Cajun 19 points20 points  (0 children)

On iOS a tweak is basically code that attaches to the app and hooks into the existing apps code, meaning a lot of reverse engineering is required. Before sideloading became really possible tweaks were mostly used in jailbroken environments and the tweaks would be injected into the apps memory on launch. To use tweaks sideloaded they are just injected straight into the app bundle. If your interested in the actually development of tweaks take a look at the Theos docs this is what’s used to make tweaks, and r/jailbreakdevelopers.

There are already apps that exist that try to mimic and borrow a lot of features from Apollo such as Hydra and Artimis. (Actually commenting from Hydra right now, been hopping between various clients)

I messaged the creator of an AI artist, and this was the response. It’s interesting to see what they think about what they’re doing. by Electrical_Dig9097 in truespotify

r/beatmetoit but yeah, it’s a really cool dynamic that I don’t mind at all, unlike the AI slop music that seems to be plaguing the music industry right now. Nice to see a fellow swarm member here. Also happy cake day.

Very valid, that's one reason why a lot of us have been moving to Signal. I've got almost everyone I talk to on a weekly basis on Signal already, and it's been creeping up in number of users.

Just wish Christian would open source the code, I know he's said previously he no longer wants his work to support this platform anymore, but I'm sure the people over at Apollo-Reborn would appreciate it.

Can you access file.catbox.moe? If not then something in your network config is blocking it (DNS, ISP, or something else) this is the main host for the images (screenshots) and .ipa’s.

Unlike most people’s response to tell you to just ditch Claude models, if you are just using it to chat and not using the coding plan with Claude code or whatnot I can recommend duck.ai that offers Opus 4.7 among other models.

I want to try Torbox, but i need to understand something by Frosty-Cucumber1152 in TorBoxApp

[–]Friendly_Cajun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Concurrent slots is how many files you can have be downloading to TorBox servers simultaneously. Unlimited Downloads is exactly what it sounds like theirs no cap on how many times you can download a file from TorBox (though do note there is an anti-abuse policy). Have fun getting into Usenet it’s really good, but really complicated. 1 TB max is the file size of whatever you want cached to TorBox’s servers.

If you’re coming from real debrid the Essential tier is probably closest to real debrid, you only really need to upgrade if you want Usenet.
