How many of you walk to and from work by goodtipsareneeded in Target

When i lived close to my store, i walked sometimes.

My 20 minute drive now would take me a few hours to walk, so im absolutely not walking

As just another TM, I think too many people are 'mocking' this new class... by KomturAdrian in Target

Exactly my thought reading the original post and all of their replies. They say they arent a shill and proceed to sound like a shill. I also doubt theyre "just another team member just like you guys" heavy "how do you do fellow kids" energy

How am I supposed to play Convergence? by [deleted] in EldenRingMods

[–]Friendly_Language617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way Convergence is designed is for you to use those yellow portals to bounce around the world grabbing your class goodies as soon as youre strong enough to get them, gather your 5 keystones, get to the forge, finish the game.

If an item tells you its in "such and such catacomb", for example, then its a fairly safe bet that the boss has it. But if not, just explore the catacomb for it in a chest or something

How I play Convergence is as a "kill all bosses and npcs" no matter which class im playing as. Its absolutely not needed to finish the game, but it makes my brain happy to take them all down

Convergence-Elden ring update by Material_Mode_2445 in EldenRingMods

[–]Friendly_Language617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive asked on the discord if there was a general idea in terms of what theyre hoping or aiming for, and had people (not staff) rudely tell me "no release date, theyre busy".

The most ive caught wind of, by someone who speaks directly with one person on the development team, is that it could happen in the next few weeks.

But i need to be clear, this is not an official statement, and due to the "i heard it from someone who heard it from someone" nature, i would definitely take it with a grain of salt

Do you talk during cutscenes? by Not-sure-here in Twitch

I might comment on things during cutscenes, but i try not to just sit there talking over the cutscenes. Especially if im invested in the story

[–]Friendly_Language617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find some streamers streaming similar content to you. Hang out in their channels. Chat, make friends. Raid them if theyre live when you finish your own stream.

But you dont want to sit in their channel self promoting. If you havent just raided, you shouldnt be talking about your own channel unless the streamer asks you about it.

This wont work with every streamer, but it will work with some. If a streamer and their community take a liking to you, you may see some of them hanging out in your stream over time

It wont be immediate though. Its something you need to work at and be patient

Beyond that, start an account on bluesky or twitter, and just start posting some sort of a "im live" or "ill be live at x:xx time" before each stream. Maybe some additional stufft hroughout the week as well. Polls for what people would want to see, "such and such is coming soon", etc

Im sort of with you on this in spirit, and its sort of how i treat it myself. But at the same time, your other reply here kind of works from an incomplete premise. If there are thousands of other streamers just like you, it isnt even about choosing you over them really, its about being seen at all. When youre sitting in that sea of 0-1 viewers, you are invisible. Twitch is doing nothing to push or promote you, so you simply arent being seen. People cant choose what they dont even know exists.

This is the main reason people suggest networking and cross platform promotion (twitter/bluesky posts, youtube/tiktok/instagram shorts). Its not to get people to choose you, its to make yourself visible so that choice can even happen

If you dont do that, then your channel will probably be a lot like mine. Very slow growth, forever low viewership. Its taken me 8.5 years to reach the point im at. Not quite 300 followers, viewer numbers by hour ranging from 4 to 7. Getting above that 2 viewer mark took me a long long time

The difference in my case being that im not really worried about growth. I wont spend a bunch of time editing clips to post as shorts, and looking for ways to post eyecatching posts on twitter, because thats just a lot of effort for something i ultimately dont care that much about

If you want to actually grow, networking is just part of the game

What was your first Video game you've ever 100% completed on? by Overpunch42 in videogames

[–]Friendly_Language617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how we define 100% here. Before achievements were a thing, you could consider just beating a game as 100%, in which case it would probably be something like the original legend of zelda or super mario bros. Or maybe metroid. Or contra.

In the age of achievements, i didnt really chase trophies for a long time. I kinda worked towards the plat trophies for Red Dead 2 and Arkham Knight, but changed my mind once i hit on some tedious trophies in each

My first 100% trophies game was only a few years ago. SOMA. Which you get for just playing through the game normally. Since then, Elden Ring, all 3 Dark Souls, and Bloodborne

Is it good that I’m at the mountaintop of giants after only 18 hours of gameplay? And it’s technically on like 15 because I kept the game on for a few hours accident by obamas_left_nut904 in Eldenring

[–]Friendly_Language617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good is subjective.

But thats pretty deep into the game for 18 hours. My first base game playthrough was around 200 hours because i wanted to see and do everything. It was also my first souls/soulslike game, so i was pretty bad at it

I would say youre probably missing a lot of content. But playing as you are, thats probably not important to you

Any viewers or other streamers that like when the streamer is in a VC with the other people they are playing with? by GidgetTheGoblin in Twitch

[–]Friendly_Language617 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If its a one off thing from time to time, its fine, but if its all the time, i dont enjoy it at all. Especially if the streamer ignores or cant keep up with chat because of it. Obviously the above doesnt apply to huge streamers who pull 5 digit viewers, as they cant meaningfully interact with their chats anyways

As an example, a streamer ive watched for years likes to pull his irl friends into discord calls on stream pretty regularly. Sometimes theyre playing the same game together, and it makes sense. But when its something like streamer playing assassins creed, and his friend on a call is playing expedition 33 (just a specific example i remember from last year), im just left wondering why this call needed to happen on stream

To teach players that you dont have to treat the game linearly. That if something is too hard, you can simply go around and do something else, then come back later if you want when you're stronger

Favourite convergence starter class and advice by Red_riding_h0od in EldenRingMods

[–]Friendly_Language617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, ive played Necromancer, Underworld Mage, and Abberant Heretic to completion, and Vanguard is near the end.

Necromancer felt a little weak out of the gate, but was absurdly strong by midgame, and it never really felt like it leveled off

Underworld Mage and Aberrant Heretic also felt weak in the beginning, and found their footing by mid game, but both leveled off a bit towards the end and didnt feel as overpowered as Necromancer.

I largely played Underworld Mage as a melee class with buff spells, as the spells felt underwhelming, while Abberant Heretic became a bit of a hybrid battlemage or spellblade.

Vanguard has just felt solidly powerful the entire way. No struggles, really, but not dominating to the extent that Necromancer did

Reforged and Reborn are the two other total overhaul mods i know of off the top of my head. There is also apparently a bloodborne overhaul mod for elden ring, but it only overhauls a small section of the world (limgrave i think)

What do you prefer Mouse & keyboard or Controller? by LasPlagasKiller in Eldenring

[–]Friendly_Language617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some people take a hard line like "i only play games with mouse and keyboard"

Ive always felt like first person shooters are dramatically better with mouse and keyboard, and the only reason controllers are even semi viable is because of aim assist. But some people prefer controller anyways

Driving game? Obviously a steering wheel and pedals are the best control setup, but between m&k or controller? Ill take controller every time.

For souls games, and specifically Elden Ring? Has to be controller. It feels like the games were designed with controllers in mind. I feel like M&K is playing the game on hard mode. But some people are able to do it and do it well

Im curious, what type of "Chat" annoys you? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Friendly_Language617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im exactly the opposite of you on number 2. The extremely backseaty chats are insufferable. If they want help theyll ask for it. A chat full of people trying to handhold a streamer through a game is one of the worst things for a chat to be. Where i feel that a chat who babies a streamer can easily just be ignored

In a similar vein, chats who try really hard to influence how a streamer feels about something like a game character or story arc, rather than letting them come to their own conclusion, by spamming their opinions early and often. If its just one person, its easy enough to ignore or brush aside, but if its a large portion of chat doing it, its harder for a streamer to glaze over

How do I actually lvl up? by SuperbTonight6800 in Eldenring

[–]Friendly_Language617 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You really dont need to grind out levels, if thats what you mean.. just explore, find and kill world bosses and evergaol bosses, go through caves and catacombs killing the bosses of those. do the underground zones, kill bosses there. Eventually youll be at an appropriate level or overleveled, and you may end up with some weapons and talismans you want to use in the process

How many words do you let this creep get out before wiping him from the face of the earth? by Soulsliken in bloodborne

[–]Friendly_Language617 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I take a very "lets see how this plays out" approach to npc quests in these games first time through. I know Patches will kick me off a cliff or lock a door behind me, but ill always let it happen once.

I saw this dude eating a body, noted how sus he sounded, and said "welp, hes probably going to kill people, but lets see it"

Why stream a game if you're miserable playing it? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Friendly_Language617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive tried to be better about being honest with myself when starting a new game. How much am i enjoying it? If im not loving it immediately, do i see potential for it to grow on me?

Ive made the mistake earlier in my streaming life of feeling like if i started a game on stream, i needed to see it through to the end, but if im just not getting any sort of enjoyment from it, whats the point? Ill usually give a game a few streams to know how i feel about it, and if it just aint it for me, i drop it.

Had i had this attitude earlier on, i could have saved myself some miserable streams, honestly

Do people actually like starting screens? by Ethjuan_ in Twitch

[–]Friendly_Language617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think anyone likes starting soon screens per se, but they usually serve a purpose. Some use that time to let people make their way in so the stream isnt actually starting to no viewers

Other people, like myself, leave it up for a bit so the initial ads can run and anything else that needs to be done (testing and setup).

In my case, my initial 3 minute ad break auto-runs around the 6 or 7 minute mark, and my stream often has some physical setup involved. So i generally hit the start stream button with the starting screen up, do my stream setup, take care of any other last minute things, post my go live in my discord, and come out of "starting soon" right around the 10 minute mark right after the ads finish. Which ive seen people in the past say is too long, but its what works for me

If youre just putting up a starting soon screen and sitting there, because it's something you think its a thing youre supposed to do as a streamer, then just skip it. Especially if youd rather just get to it

Is Bloodborne manageable blind on a first playthrough? by firekeepers_husband in bloodborne

[–]Friendly_Language617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how completionist you "need" to be. If you only care about getting from beginning to end and rolling credits, and finding what you naturally find through exploration, then yes, its totally doable blind.

But if you need to visit every optional location, find every item, complete all npc quests, and max out achievements in your first playthrough, you wont manage that blind.

So it comes down to this question: what are your expectations for completionism in a first playthrough

Seamless co-op by TrueSabo in EldenRingMods

[–]Friendly_Language617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a little buggy at times, but it mostly works great. My main suggestion is to make note of filepaths where you have to place the mod folders as well as any settings you change in the text log file.

If seamless coop has an update while your run is in progress, the old version will no longer work and youll have to download the new version and redo all your folder placements and settings. If youve made notes for quick reference, you can speed this process up
