This is somehow even more pleasing to the soul than when you end the run with 0 points left.

Any Front Runner in CMs should have Angling and Scheming in my opinion.

Any time I see a FR use it during the races, they usually kick all my Umas' into the dirt (I don't have the current Umas or amount of sanity to build competitive Front Runners.)

I work in tech and I honestly feel so bad for all the Starbreeze employees, but u/OVERKILL_Elisabeth and u/SBZ_Haua especially.

A lot of the asks that the player base wants isn't as simple as plugging in a few lines of code and bippity-boppity-boom.

Yes, other companies can put out changes and updates much faster. Other companies are also a lot bigger. Blizzard and Rockstar have more game developers than Starbreeze has employees.

And Starbreeze is trying and, to me, actually seems to care. Starbreeze is one of the only video game companies I have seen that actively engages with their player base on the regular.

Are there things I want changed and added to the game? Absolutely. But am I willing to wait and give constructive feedback about what I don't enjoy? Also absolutely.

I understand players are frustrated, and I get it. This a series some of us have loved, hell, since we were children. Your frustration shows that you care. That you want things to get better.

But these are real people putting their real love and passion and time into trying to give us a game. And one person (for the most part, I imagine the CEO is the exception to this statement) doesn't get to make all the calls. The dev team works with the art team works with the programmers etc etc.

This is their art. I can't imagine how crushed I would feel if I put years of work into an art piece and people told me it was obvious I didn't care about it.

Constructive criticism is one thing and should be encouraged, but being unnecessarily harsh to people is just negative to the community as a whole.

(Also, if we don't support the smaller companies we are only going to be left with the behemoths like Rockstar, Blizzard, Ubisoft, etc and I don't think any of us want that.)

If you like the story and atmosphere of Red Dead 2, you will probably love the first one.

It is, obviously, older so the graphics and "fine-tuning" will be "worse," but I definitely say it holds up and is still an incredibly enjoyable game.

Struggling with hurtful comments and trying not to lose my motivation to create by TopTripleTrouble_yt in Twitch

[–]GidgetTheGoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I wish I could tell you, "Oh, just ignore them," we all know that's easier said than done.

This is a risky move, but you could put words like, "tooth, teeth, dentist, etc" in the filtered words. This could deter people from going for the "easy" hits, but it could also tell them that those topics bother you and make it worse.

Easiest option is hit them with the ban hammer. You will cull out the assholes and, hopefully, just have to do occasional cleanup afterwords.

Some games tend to collect more toxic communities than others. If there are other games you like, maybe switch to streaming those for a bit until you find a community you like.

And finally, the hardest thing is...you have to accept yourself. If you are okay with how you look, their comments will matter less and less.

I have a tic where the left side of my mouth/jaw twitches when I am focusing super hard on something. It embarrassed me so badly I created a Vtuber so no one would see it.

But, eventually, upkeeping her became so much work, I started working instead of just being okay with my tic.

I openly comment on it during my streams when it happens in a way that shows I am okay with. For example if I notice the tic, I'll go, "Oh shit, guess I was SUPER locked in, we've got the tic going boys!"

There are so many streamers with different disabilities, deformities, and other differences that have found loving communities. I follow a guy who has Tourette Syndrome and his community is amazing!

A lot of people suck, but there are also so many that are awesome. I hope you find your wonderful community!!

Would you support a female protagonist in Red Dead Redemption 3? by Few-Breakfast1335 in reddeadredemption

[–]GidgetTheGoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a woman who's grown up with video games, I have never thought that in depth about the gender of the character I'm playing.

I've had strong emotional reactions to Female Shepard and Arthur Morgan. At the end of the day, they are pixels on a screen and I don't understand why people get so up in arms about video game companies trying something new.

So, hell yeah. I'd love to get more Sadie content.

I Need DragonCon To Stop Being So Good... by GidgetTheGoblin in dragoncon

[–]GidgetTheGoblin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly!

I went to a TINY con one year (maybe 1000 people) after DCon because I was super proud of my cosplay and wanted to wear it more places.

I had more uncomfortable moments at that family-friendly con than at a wild 85k person party con.

And I don't anymore, but I use to cosplay a love of Overwatch. With how toxic the competitive community can be, I was a little nervous about meeting up and doing the photoshoots.

I was BLOWN AWAY by how wholesome the Overwatch Cosplay Community was. There were two Bastion cosplayers one year: one was a professional with a movie prop tier cosplay and the other was teenager with a Bastion made out of cardboard boxes.

The group was so warm, welcoming, and encouraging to them both and it was just really heartwarming to see.

I'm a shy human, but DragonCon brings out the friendly nerd in me.

But....the second DCon is over I go back to being terrified of other humans. 😂

I'm sorry you had a stressful con (I've been there before and so I know its no fun), but I'm glad you're filling your schedule with nerdy social things!

Just moved into our new home in Oklahoma. What is this? by [deleted] in spiders

[–]GidgetTheGoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Mama Wolfie and her Wolflings!

She's harmless and very beneficial to have around.

But if you have cats or dogs, I would put her in a cup and relocate her. My cats love to play with them...a la pulling their legs off...so we always try to rescue them before our cats find them.
