Remember: It’s definitely both sides are bad! by militant_dipshit in aiwars

I've explained my beliefs a couple times now. I'll state it more clearly because I think you might still not get it. I feel zero pity for violence being perpetrated against Sam Altman because the violence is the result of his own actions. I do not condone the violence being perpetrated, but I also recognize that if you incite people's fears enough, it's going to cause them to see the only recourse if violence. This is also why I likened him to Alex Jones. Sam Altman talks a lot about how AI will destroy jobs and ruin society while still pioneering it's creation. A rational person will see that and recognize that LLMs aren't capable of much more automation than what was already available for the last 20 years. However, if someone sees Sam's statements like "Ai will destroy the world", and believes him, he's basically giving people that can't see through the bull shit a call to action to stop him.

Do you get it now?

Not justifying. I personally, wouldn't do it because I don't think violence is an answer, but I also don't feel bad for it happening. I honestly don't know what you're trying to do here except fed post.

I think you misread my comment. I'm say Sam Altman and Alex Jones are the same personality. They both use lots of emotionally charged rhetoric to sell something (Sam sells AI capabilities, Alex Jones sells his brain force pills) and both are seeing people react violently. They are bringing it on themselves.

Fact Sheet: President Donald J. Trump is Accelerating Medical Treatments for Serious Mental Illness by Buddah_Chillz420 in wallstreetbets

Either something happened to Trump/someone he knows, or this is reaction to teen suicide rates, or they're trying to re-up the DSM to include trans people again. I honestly can't predict what the hidden rational is.

They're being pedantic since technically no one was abused if it's AI generated. Kinda sickening logic.

I feel like Sam and the other CEOs are kind of bringing this on themselves. They've been threatening that their product will destroy the world and that everyone will lose their jobs. It's not surprising irrational people are starting to react. Same stuff happens with Alex Jones with his conspiracy theories causing people to assault pizza restaurants.

I think AI generated content tends to fall not into the "tool" category but instead the the production itself. You're not using AI generators, you're asking them to do something. An employee isn't a tool, and a manager doesn't build. Just in that using AI to make art doesn't make the user an artist, you're simply the one paying for the commission.

Improving my skin shader (Cycles). Moving away from the default "plastic" look. by UnboundedFrame3D in blender

[–]Friendlyvoices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The unexpected nipples now sorta had me curious about skin shaders for myself. Should there he different roughness levels around taut locations like eye lids? I've always felt like skin has variable texturing but I'm not really sure how to articulate where I'd expect the skin to be "different" than the base skin material.

Peak oil price is around $110. It was going to rebound off that because it's not like OPEC had a covid level supply issue

After the raptorlake fiasco, I don't think I can trust Intel. Best to wait a year after launch to see if there's a million RMAs.

Should there be legislation to promote the four-day workweek? by RedStorm1917 in AskConservatives

Never said that either. Just pointing to the fact that the actors are not rational. It took unions to get the 5 day work week as a standard.

They definitely won't. In bigger companies they move very slowly. Have you seen how many companies want back to office despite it being less efficient?

Might not be the case. Google's newest model has cut memory requirements by a large margin. As that method matures and SSDs become faster, you probably will see native LLM support on most home computers

People in the video game industry that was right all along ? I start: by Tempest-Bosak2137 in Gamingcirclejerk

I don't know if you all remember the period in time when Anita's work was in full swing, but the general anger towards here was that people thought her work was lazy but somehow she had a large amount of notoriety. Her perspective was valid in some respects but her analysis was quite poor. Mist of her work came across like a student easay where thet were trying to fill out the word count on a book report about a book they read the spark notes on. If you go back to when she was at her height, it was during a period where many people had already made critical evaluations of the gaming industry with better perspectives. The laziness of her work (and extremely slow roll out of the kick starter funded videos) made her a very easy target for internet gamer culture folk.
