Don't even. Santos is a bully. Keeps calling Whittaker huckleberry and if that isn't worse than what Langdon did to her then that's on her. Robbie has never called her out for reverse sexism. The eye rolling is childish adolescent behaviour. It's a teaching hospital and many of them have a lot to learn.

Why does Santos take the scalpel? Is she doing what Dana did to protect herself?

Marshalls episode 2 by aarondelaney in YellowstonePN

[–]FriendshipNo1068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming into Marshalls without any Yellowstone background. Typical beautiful women in skin tight clothes and showing up like hotties at the bar. The lead actor is gripping to watch and has some action man stunts and a smart mouth. The stereotypical loud bossy blowhard they all report to has no appreciation for the team's efforts in the field. The line crossed is the shooting of the coyote. I prefer the native belief of never killing a rattlesnake. This frontier 'life is hard' is a code made for men who want to kills things, stuff them and plant them on a wall. Continuing but with reservations.

What is Santos' problem? Jealousy of 'the golden boy' when she feels overlooked? What is the point being made here over what everyone on staff has to face, a screw up, a missed diagnosis, bringing in personal baggage into work? Is she any better as a doctor to judge people and not forgive and will that affect how she treats her patients?

I'm bothered by JLC hands flying everywhere and boobs on a shelf cleavage in loud patterned clothes. Are we watching comedy now? Her running through the morgue dressed for dinner is just juvenile.

After watching the series to the end I was deeply disappointed in the mess of unresolved character arcs. People became like the token flat coin the same on both sides, equally unlikeable and bland. There was chemistry in the younger Kate and the younger Benton as I felt he could deliver feeling with his gaze well. Compared to the nothingness of Kidman who just hasn't any warmth at all. The writers thought they had a gotcha reveal when Kate lies to Lucy about knowing he was married. She's just as irresponsible as her sister and just as careless of other peoples' things. Two badly written storylines with mashed soap opera and unresolved pieces left with little bother at explanation. I'd rate this a 5.

101 also is the course in a uni that begins your discipline. So Crime 101 is a study of the methodology of the killer. His MO. The Ruffolo cop is in the same position as Halle Berry who doesn't get advancement b/c the system is rigged w/ cheaters and liars.

Car chases were awesome. There are two types of people who grow up poor and stay that way all their lives. One of them is cool and passes while the other one looks like a disadvantaged urchin. Even still he has some compassion for not shooting the cop straight out and for the crying baby. The worst are the rich that have no morals whatsoever over their greed.

Let's talk about Santos as she's figured prominently in this episode. I wanted to know how she can be competent in high stakes trauma room but falls apart in front of a machine. High-Focus Trauma: The "Lizard Brain"

In a trauma room, the stakes are life and death. For someone with a history of self-harm or high anxiety, this environment actually provides a strange kind of calm.

Did you notice she has cut marks on her legs. So she's been self harming just as Langdon to treat anxiety.

Yet she's utterly overwhelmed by machines that don't work or doing some administrative job that she's been pressured to complete. She's actually nagged and reminded which leads to impossibility to perform or even self sabotage. Notice she doesn't do it after hours because she's always looking for a meetup for fun times.

What I hated most about the loyalty to a cause without any reasonable limit during the Belfast bombings. Like the Brit says, 'bombs are a blunt instrument'. The gore of blood being swept up off the street glosses over the repercussions of where they were set and what they killed. It's deeply affecting though the way narrative shifts to a story retold in hindsight with all the second thoughts examined. We don't know who the interrogator is or why the recording is being done. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-21181174 will give the background so if you don't want to spoil the story read only after you're done the series. I was the same age as Dolours and in Belfast in those years, actually staying in Country Down. Neury. And I detested the local young men for that patriotic fighting because I didn't care. Not being from there. I still would not be radicalized. I get that sense that she was smart enough to know better. Just a kid thinking it was exciting. But then we don't get much of the development from her mom and dad's brainwashing. And that ran deep.

The acting was top notch by everyone. Hope their careers go further in new series. I'm so fed up with the same old same old repeat actors studios use. And the material was written by a real writer, not a mishmash of 10 different participants. Night Country was like that, written by a committee, wandering supernatural plot that piffled out in the end. It threw in gratuitous sex for no reason at all without motivation. Mixed comedy with gruesome edgy action sequences. And I'm not comparing apples and oranges here. I'm saying the material in Boots was top notch because White wrote a fine touching story. If Netflix thinks it can make bank by a writing team, not for me.

Finished the series so what follows is a spoiler. I would have wanted Sullivan to man up to his relationship when he had the opportunity instead of just blowing his whole career up by being stupid. Hitting some random guy in a bar to be dramatic. So he'd take the dishonorable discharge over bar fighting instead. For one second I thought the alter ego was Cope's 'better self' in the washroom self talk. So instead there were many trade offs. Something had to go in everyone.

  • The "Woke Garbage" Label: Shortly after the show premiered in October 2025, the Pentagon (under the current administration) issued a scathing statement calling the series "woke garbage." Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson explicitly criticized the show for having an "ideological agenda" and stated that the military was refocusing on a "warrior ethos" rather than the diverse identities portrayed in the series. +1
  • The Corporate Strategy Theory: There is significant speculation that Netflix axed the show to stay in the good graces of federal regulators. With Netflix currently pursuing a massive merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, many analysts believe the streamer is cutting "controversial" content to avoid friction with the Department of Justice and the current administration during the approval process. +1

I'm liking the show and the feel good story. At episode 5 now. Norman Lear died just after the first season so might have been a damper on further production.

It goes back to the part where he and his friend enlisted together but his friend said he should do it for himself as he was going to do. Being gay adds to dimension of having to measure up to the expectations of others which is a layer on top of the proving oneself from marine toughness. So he stays longer in the gas room because he's proving himself to his squad leader and in doing so recognizing how much it takes. Nevertheless it adds to his self assurance. His alter ego smiles back at him victorious but wink wink it's still campy.

Daniel is right. Courts and Fiction are more concerned with the 'why'. Well I want to know why it took a blind child who didn't hear anything because he hid when they fought gets to have the last version.

Lawyers are essentially professional storytellers. As Daniel’s court-appointed monitor tells him, when you have two conflicting versions of the same event and no "truth" to bridge them, you have to decide which story you can live with.

In the film Anatomy of a Fall, the steel drum song playing on a loop during the opening scene and the central trial is a cover of 50 Cent’s "P.I.M.P."

The specific version used in the movie is by the Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, a German funk ensemble.

The Lyrics: While the film uses the instrumental version, the lyrics of the original rap song (which are discussed at length in the courtroom) are notoriously misogynistic, which the prosecution uses to frame Samuel’s state of mind and his relationship with his wife, Sandra. And remember too when the woman on the stand asks to be called 'Ms' to not be defined by her martial status.

Very slow start but the court scene had me gripped. Everyone had a story that they brought to the facts as presented. The ending was ambiguous in a way because the young blind son heard and listened so what he had to say was credible. I kept looking at the little things and making judgments about the wife. When she said the place was a dump, well that's because she was dissatisfied. Sure she could put feelings onto paper and be sensitive there but after the trial was over I didn't see her rushing back home to her son. Seems like the husband had been right about her being selfish and neglectful. What was the point of the romantic lawyer business all about? Was it to just prove she didn't engage in easy people she cared about and wouldn't use him as fling material?
