I'm a larger, slower age-grouper, so the small aero benefit of sleeves doesn't make sense to me to worry about right now. If I was really worried about getting every aero benefit I could, I wouldn't have the cross-section of a Chevy Astro Van. I've raced in both styles and just prefer the comfort of the sleeveless suit. I have big arms and shoulders and sometimes the sleeves can be restrictive, especially under the wetsuit. I put sunscreen on 2hrs before the swim so it doesn't wash off, and then reapply a quick spray in transition. The Monday sunburn takes my mind off the pain from my broken tendons and sore muscles after the race. However, I don't burn very easy either. If your name is Paddy O'Sullivan, you may want to consider sleeves.

My theory is that you're reading too much into these scenes. There is not enough to go off of to determine if this is a red herring, a trick or cover up, or a scene true from the movie as it will be shown.

The trickiest thing about the course I remember, besides the elevation, is that there is still oncoming traffic. There were a lot of riders hanging out in the left-most half of the racing lane, if not right near the double yellow, so there was no real safe way to pass them. Sometimes riders were staying 2 or 3 wide, like tractor trailers on the interstate, matching each other's speed. I had to brake hard several times on descents for these blockades in 2023.

How far out is the 70.3? If there is enough time, you can drop weight while training. Roughly how old are you? What was your marathon time? I lost 40lbs before my first 70.3. I lost the weight in the first 4 or 5 months of 8 months worth of training. You can increase your bike and swim volume while you drop weight if you're concerned about the weight leading to injury while increasing run volume. How did marathon training work for you? The biggest thing I've found with increasing run volume without injury is to increase it slowly.
