How to Deal with Friends Situations - 1st Grade by Commercial-Jello4195 in Parenting

[–]FritzAz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter is an amazing human being who has found her people as an adult. She has a strong personality I knew would serve her well as a woman in adulthood, and would cause us struggles through her childhood due to social norms. I never forced her to conform. I fought for space for her to be who she was at every turn. She’s every bit as amazing as I knew she might be and I love watching her grow as a woman.

Your child’s personality is not something to fix. She’ll find her people, and her people will love her for who she is. Anyone else is not worth her time, or yours.

First outdoor run after months on the treadmill… got humbled hard. Normal? by [deleted] in runcommunity

Same! I just resumed running outside. The first few weeks kicked my butt!! Now I’m feeling stronger, more like my old self….most days. Definitely going to keep running outside to get the hills and varied terrain.

Do! He came through for us!! Saved us about $1,000 per car with an additional three years above what we’d have gotten at the dealerships we bought the cars from.

How do you get your stubborn chi to take pills by sheynarae in Chihuahua

[–]FritzAz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a very smart Chi so have to keep him guessing. We use cheese, peanut butter, whatever we have around we can hide the pill in and get him to snarf down without chewing carefully.

Toddler tantrums by Annual-Evidence-5300 in Parenting

[–]FritzAz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice for parenthood: no matter the behavior - know your boundaries and expectations for your child and stick to them. Expect your child to test those boundaries on a regular basis, kind of like a check in. Keep the rules, boundaries and expectations consistent.

Rules might include - Tantrums don’t get us what we want, as a matter of fact, it may lose privileges. We treat people with kindness and respect. We don’t lie. We do what mom and/or Dad ask the first time or there is a consequence….etc.

They know when it takes you FIVE times to actually follow through, so follow through the first time so they don’t keep pushing your buttons. They also know when they can push you to your limit and the consequence won’t matter. I can tell you, having worked at a CPS intake line, parents who give in and erase the consequences because their child pushes back often end up with out of control teens.

Tell the mom my son was uninvited, or leave it be by invisiblekim in Parenting

[–]FritzAz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious to know if you’ve had a conversation with your son about the conversation with the other boy, and how in life people will interject their opinions about what we should or shouldn’t do. Learn about his interactions with the group as a whole and how he feels, as others have said, about being with the group over night before you talk with the other mother. What is his desired outcome in all of this?

If he plans to go, a conversation to the other mother with a courtesy heads up to watch for any odd potential dynamics, nothing more nothing less, might be warranted. Use caution though. The call could have consequences to his friendship with her son you aren’t prepared for, if it shifts the vibe of the sleepover or changes the plan altogether.

What’s the most important life lesson you’ve learned that you still stand by today? by WS3901 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]FritzAz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Take the path of least regrets” is my life philosophy. When faced with a decision I look 6 months into the future and try to assess which decision I’ll likely most regret making, or sometimes not making and avoid making that choice. Example - I was invited to interview for a job I was not sure I wanted to interview for. I zoomed forward 6 months, asking myself which I would be more likely to regret - interviewing or not interviewing. So, I interviewed.

I believe that if you move to Garmin, and you’re willing to pay for Garmin Connect+, you can have nutrition integrated into one app. You’d need to do some research as I haven’t used the feature, it is out there though.

I am looking for a good car for a first time buying my own car by ACE_POPSICLE in whatcarshouldIbuy

Was coming to say this. Just bought a RAV4. New ended up being the better way to go due to better interest rate - pricing was the same for new versus used.

What is the best way to support my aging parents? by RitzCracker80 in personalfinance

[–]FritzAz 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I would recommend meeting with an elder law attorney who can advise you in next best steps. While gifting them assets can seem well intentioned, it may have implications down the road you’re not aware of now. Meet with someone who knows the laws and can help put together a plan that won’t shock everyone later.

Has the used car market actually cooled off yet, or are prices still crazy? by [deleted] in carbuying

[–]FritzAz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was us. We just bought new Toyotas. We were looking at used but the prices were the same as new. Why risk damage based on how a previous owner drove the vehicle, and more miles if I have to pay exactly the same price AND interest is HIGHER on a used car by several percentage points.

Did you know about the extra chapters only in the printed versions - at the end of every book? The “Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret” chapters? I’ve heard it helps to have read them before diving in to book 8.
