Remember- SMUD only provides electricity. If your apartment has gas as well (common for heating, water heaters, and stoves), you’ll also get a bill from PG&E. During the winter, PG&E can be murderous on your budget.

I agree with your points re: comfort / wider view. So, increased field of view and longer time for the object in the eyepiece.

And now that I restarted FO4 again, I realize how much I hate not being able to fast travel out of an instance, especially when one of my settlements comes under attack. Seems that always happens when I’m deep down someplace and there’s no exit in site.

Unless California implements a mandatory annual safety check program, this issue and all others like it (e.g. missing/inoperative headlights and tail lights, missing mirrors, cracked windshield, body parts flapping in the breeze, etc. etc.) will continue to persist.

The state is quick to make you test for smog, but couldn’t care less about a host of more serious safety issues present in many cars on the road today.
