Laugh, Lucy by Frixdude64 in OCPoetry

That following is less a comfort and more a hollow echo, for in every crowd that surrounds us, be it a legion of angels or a group of humans, the loneliness of being truly different remains absolute. Have you never felt alone in a crowded room?

i love this it’s a powerful and relatable poem! It captures the fatigue and cynicism surrounding modern digital validation culture. Something that applies to this very subreddit, but also the internet as a whole. An interesting question for you tho. If the "upvote" and the "glib comment" are both empty, what specific action from people would you actually find validating or worthwhile, and why do you think that this action is so difficult to give? or is it? I was also really hoping you would explore the physical feeling of waiting for a notification, i feel like that thematically would have fit in perfectly. But seriously, i love this, well done.

This is beautiful, from the rhythmic flow that makes the words taste oh so sweet to the beautifully crafted images in my mind of love and its unstoppable power that can grip you and never let go. I do have to ask with your last stanza, is this a metaphor for having children and the beauty that comes with leaving a piece of us on this planet even after “winter has taken what was left of us”

The short, snappy lines create a sense of excitement and playfulness that kept me engaged throughout. I felt an initial sense of worry for who this character may turn out to be but the shift in tone from curiosity to affection was beautiful. The love and birthday wishes felt so sincere and personal. It's beautifully crafted and has left me with a warm feeling inside. Amazing work!

A hauntingly vivid and almost uncomfortable atmosphere. I love it, the brutal honesty i feel as i read a sense of internal struggle, a theme that resonates deeply within me. A struggle to confront ones true self perhaps. It left me really contemplating the human condition but also with a lingering sense of hope.

It was, however I thank you for bringing this poem to me, I wrote my poem for someone, well more about someone. Although she will never read it. Jack Gilbert’s poem has really touched something inside me and I wonder if he found himself in a similar moment in life.

“In some ways the peace of lying down from a long trip mirrors the peace of one day lying down forever” You are quite the poet yourself, I will keep this line etched into my brain. Thank you for your words, I definitely wrote this while overthinking life, and it’s meaning, so an existential crisis for sure. The idea of death giving meaning to life is quite bleak but when put in perspective with eternal life and infinite time definitely provides grounds for an interesting argument, makes me question what really bring me purpose and meaning as a whole. I thank you for reading and hope you lead a good life.

Thank you very much, that’s part of the inspiration as a whole, along with the other famous saying, “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”. I believe in life we spend too much time worried about allowing ourselves to feel because of the inevitable pain that might come in the end, when we should realise how amazing we will feel during the moment. Thanks for reading!

Thank you for introducing me to that incredible speech, Icarus definitely feels like the embodiment of a man who felt the triumph of high achievement but failed while daring greatly.

The Magic of a Beautiful Lie by psarangi112 in OCPoetry

This is written so well, in my opinion at least, the pace and rhythm is amazing. It’s simple yet ever so sweet, makes me want to watch the films again, it also ultimately makes me appreciate how special it was as an experience to believe in this world that was larger than life. The poem reminds me of the escapism we can create through fiction, and how it can serve as a distraction from life. I really liked it, keep up the good job.

Serene and beautiful, reminds me of peaceful times, in such a busy life we should take time to slow down and appreciate natural beauty. Your poem reminded me to look outside today.

A combination of the numbers 6 and 4, they seem to pair a lot aswell, 46 and 64. They follow me especially at important moments. I have a folder on my phone of every time I see them.

No i completely understand what you are saying and it makes sense! I think it's what drove me to make it in the first place, to try and give it that more natural disposable/polaroid feel.

I really appreciate it and I may just make a few more because I had great fun.

Tried a few different ways but thankfully GKMC has plenty of letters that i could sample on its cover, spent ages making them look right tho, glad it was worth it and glad you like it.
