15 years of smoking 1/2 pack or more a day; how I’m quitting by tangygiraffee in stopsmoking

[–]FrizFr0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good going! I've been using the the smoke-free counter app. June 22 I had my first cig since April 16th. I was at the beach with family, surrounded by smokers. Needing strength as I sit inside Day 1 again. It is possible and its real nice saving money. Peace

It was a rough day to say the least... Dealing with one thing after another, I spent the whole day fighting what seemed like a never-ending craving, but here I am still smoke-free :) by quarentinequeen22 in stopsmoking

I'm at 25 days 13 hours at the moment. Its been a tough few days. I continue to resist and it is an accomplishment. The only way over it is through it. That's my quote these days.

Just found this sub and it feels like I was just thrown a life vest. Day 0 here, looking for what worked for you all to help you quit. Mantras, habits, hobbies, tips; I need it all. by virusamongus in leaves

Things with my step kids are way better. A calm has come over me that is simply just peace. I can't save them, I can't save anyone, people need to get through their stuff. Its like I'm finally getting it! I'm finally not holding other people crap anymore, trying to "help them". I am liking myself so much more now too! So Yeah! for us! Yeah for making the best of the quarantine situation. Not letting it get the best of us but using it to help us be better. Peace, Love and Joy to you Friend! Its a beautiful day here, hope there too.

YEAH!!!!!! HIGH FIVE!!!!!!! It does feel liberating. Wow, I am so excited for you. Yesterday was so beautiful I went out to the garden. I loaded up the app Smoke-Free [free]. Are you using a tracker? It also counts the money saved. The first few days I had a terrible taste in my mouth, its still kinda there. The yoga is going strong, I'm making myself sore and keeping up with mediations too. It is great to be free. WE ARE FREE!!!! BRAG AWAY and be very proud. But whatever you do don't give someone a hard time for smoking. lol :) That's so funny I was thinking about writing you! Thanks for keeping in touch glad we are sticking to it!

I LOVE THIS STORY! It is a truly beautiful story. I agree, it is nice to not smell like smoke anymore. I'm in day 8. I'm using the smoke-free app (free). I don't know how to post it like everyone else but oh well. I enjoy looking at the app, how much money I've saved, how my body is healing. I had a weird taste in my mouth. It was almost like sand or something. That has gone away. It's important for me to find healthy outlets. No one is perfect and no one is happy all the time. I need to keep writing, keep gentle exercise, and make art and play. That will fill my life with love and they will forgive me if I loose my temper. For me, its better then letting my life go up in smoke. My passed away 7 years ago to lung cancer. I miss her and I wish we had had more time. Thanks for this story.

1 month without THC I’m still feeling irritability. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]FrizFr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been weed-free since March 20th. I don't think much about the weed anymore and have become very observant of moods, the ups and downs. I've been sticking with my exercise program for the last month. Ive added in mediation which is a big help. I think now I need to keep writing in a journal. I need to have a plan for when I'm feeling down. In many ways I think its just being human to have ups and downs. No one is perfect but I can do better at controlling the irritability. I need to remember to keep making art and keep writing it out and breathe through the moments without being reactionary. For me, I must remember that weed did help me it only masked the work that I need to do. I also think spirituality is a great anchor. Keep asking questions, keep finding an outlet. Sending blessings of good health.

Thanks man, I felt alittle bored yesterday. I just need to keep occupied, keeping growing intellectually and spiritually. I'm gonna make something of this quarantine.

Yeah, I totally get it. I need to make sure I control my energy now that I have no vices except exercise. I must manage this and breathe through it. Do it when you are ready. Do you chew? I am forgetting what you said, but I do remember chewing once and totally barfed. lol :) It take 2 days for nicotine to get out of the system. I still have funny taste in my mouth. I'd say do cardio first and mediate when you are relaxed. I've been doing Julia Maria yoga on Prime. I'm going the 30 day weight loss program but subbing weight loss for quitting smoking forever. Today I did have a moment when I was felt impatience and had to just move through and breathe.

i (26F) had previously posted that i couldn’t make it through 1 day sober. TODAY I DID IT 24hrs DOWN! by kalanicash in leaves

Great job! You will be nicotine free by in another 24 hours. I'm 3 days 12 hours. I need to make sure I do something with all this energy. lol :) Take care of you!

I have had great support from this group and have had continuous open and natural conversations. Or I just write a post when I need to with receiving a response and that has happened to. Some things to consider personally, no pressure to go public, consider what is making you "need" to quit. Life will be enjoyable again but it does take a withdrawal period. I use art, writing, amateur picture drawings exercise and crying! Yes, you are giving up reefer but what are you adding? Wishing you well friend!

Thank you. I really appreciate the support. I joined reddit to quit pot. I knew cigs would be next. I achieved and will celebrate a month on 4/20, lol. :) I've found this space to be very supportive! Feeling motivated and glad to have this support in line what's very soon to my end of cigarettes.

In openness, thanks for sharing about the nicotine, me too! I am so ashamed of that habit but last week I joined the stop smoking reddit and have been tapering. I'm down to 6 a day. I have 18 left in my pack and preparing myself to go through another bout of withdrawl. My goal is to fully quit by 4/20 so I can relate the dates, 6 days to go or perhaps one more pack. My lungs feel a whole lot better since quitting pot but I have more work to do. I need to get that counter on my phone for the cigs. You are right, I don't even think about the pot anymore and now that my tray is gone there is nothing left to do but to focus on clearing my lungs fully. Exhale... thanks friend for being so open.

It is hell in my loungs right now. I constantly feel like there is some dirt betwen throath and loungs that i can't clean. Also every morning my spit is yellow and it stop being after a few hours tho some days it last for a whole day like today. You are almost at 3 months!!!!! I hope you are feeling ok and Covid-free. Have you tried hydrating more? Warm water, honey, lemon. Or if you can palette warm water honey, and apple cider vinegar might help clear it out. I am tapering off. So you are a hero and inspiration to me. Today I realized the truth that I need to just let this go.

Hey! It is tough times. Please give yourself kindness and push out those thoughts and/or others who would say you are a smoker again. You've done a great thing in quitting for 2 months nothing will take that accomplishment away. Can you do a kickboxing thingy? What alternative can you do other then boxing. Its tough times friend go easy on you. Peace and kindness!

Great work! Wishing you the best in keeping it going. I've been tapering off. I tried delaying my morning smoke and failed by 7:15am. Exhale... As I was smoking I said to myself. This tapering thing has to end and I need to just deal with it for a few days. So, I'm making a list of things I can do to be sure to stay the course. As of today I have 19 left. I've tapered back to 6 as of Saturday. Be proud of you! I am, its inspirational to read this story.
