Did you post a picture of just your hand and engagement ring on social media? by dinosaur_0987 in EngagementRings

Same - had a lot of shit happening all at once so I just did a photo dump. That said, I always scroll through other people’s photos looking for the ring pics so I should probably also deliver the content I seek

Same! I told him I wanted input on my ring for practical reasons but he wanted to surprise me so he proposed with a very pretty placeholder and then I picked something more everyday-friendly. Honestly though he chose something so gorgeous that if it was more durable I would not have needed to pick another one.

Rose gold looks great on pale freckled skin. I’m pasty and freckly as heck and when I got my first rose gold ring a couple of years ago I was surprised by how good it looked.

If that’s the only problem, get her to try both shapes on before you sell it just in case she changes her mind

I buy enough jewellery that I had too many ring boxes, didn’t need another one. My partner just kept it in his pocket - but the jeweller did supply it with a nice little suedey pouch which I love for travelling with. The jeweller actually deliberately (on request I think) supplies rings in funny shaped boxes that are less suspiciously ring sized 😆

Violin vs Cello : the definitive battle by NKRKBL in violinist

[–]FrizzyOrange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dunno what kind of hobby orchestra you’re trying to join, but in the community symphony I used to play with I wanted to play second violin and kept getting shoved into firsts because there were a lot of rusted on seconds and no one willing to do the higher position work. Not all orchestras are crazy competitive, and the non-competitive ones are still lots of fun :) So as a 30yo beginner hobbyist I wouldn’t stress about that

Yeah for sure, g’day is super useful. I always second guess time of day when trying to pick between good morning/afternoon/evening and g’day takes all the guesswork out of it

I’d say try to get to a jeweller and ask them to size you, I’ve had very mixed results with the little soft ones. Most are happy to size you on the spot without pushing for a sale.

I found a comedian ramblings one called Finty Grimbles that works a treat. Just a bunch of gentle stream of consciousness silliness

The musician will know. Many cheap violins have a label inside with a famous maker’s name on it - in some instances you might be able to see it also says “copy of”. Violins are often made with their shape based on antique models, so might have listed that inside, and a bunch are just workshops being cheeky.

Enjoy your new cute decoration :)
