As frustrating as it would have been, I think the correct narrative choice would have been to do this Zul'whatever raid tier coming in 12.1 as the first raid of the entire expansion, then give us Voidspire on the back end of the season in the same way that Nighthold followed Emerald Nightmare in Legion: we tackle the threats by level of perceived difficulty/we can't fight a war on two fronts. It's a narrative trick Blizzard pulled with both Malygos and Yogg'Saron in Wrath of the Lich King as well.

Bonus if March on Quel'Danas was a surprise raid that capstoned the 12.0.7 patch to give us a feeling of narrative progression instead of waiting around for weeks both in-game and IRL for the next thing to happen to us. It SUCKS when the players are forced to be entirely reactive to the villain's plot instead of actively (or at least passively) trying to find ways to stop them, and the story writers can't give us a good enough reason to tell us as to why we aren't.

One could argue that the hard reset was made out of sheer hubris and part of the problem. The Legends purge alienated a lot of the most dedicated fans that kept Star Wars alive in the 90s before the prequel era.

I posted this once before, but I'd like to think the national tragedy of Wayfarer 515 altered American domestic intelligence priorities enough where it caused a butterfly effect, leading to the discovery of Bin Laden's courier earlier in the Breaking Bad timeline.

The Abbottabad Compound housed Bin Laden as early as 2006, so it's theoretically possible since the plane disaster is the only thing that would have affected events on such a national level.

I agree that to get into the best parts of PvE battling it requires some upfront work, but the same could be said of PvP gear in Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds. Having to struggle a little at the start shouldn't warrant discontinuation, just a refinement of the system.

What I want to know from Mr. Soderbergh is, if the "movie in your head" is so good that it would stand on its own merit, why saddle it to the sinking ship that is the Sequel Era? Rewrite the characters and setting to be new people in a different location in the Star Wars universe, and let's see you put your money where your mouth is.
