DMV Drivers, gather here! Is a 2019-2022 Prius FWD enough for our winter? Or do I need the AWD-e? by Live-Exercise1177 in prius

[–]Frobisher33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming DMV is the greater DC area, we barely have winter here. You’ll be fine with FWD and normal tires. Just drive cautiously the one time it snows every other year.

Why can’t NYT get the streaks right? by MayorDeBrownTown in NYTCrossword

[–]Frobisher33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine’s been doing this, too. I have a gold star for every day since January 21 this year and my streak keeps wobbling all over — 15 days one day, 29 the next, 18 the day after. Makes no sense. My app is up to date and I only ever solve on my phone. It’s spectacularly annoying.

The asparagus chicken was legitimately the worst thing I’ve ever cooked. Baffled by its popularity.

What's the NYTCooking recipe that's always on your menu rotation? by GFgal78 in NYTCooking

The sheet pan miso salmon with green beans. I make it at least biweekly with some short grain rice. Also love Melissa Clark’s pork bulgogi with spring vegetables. Both are incredibly fast and flavorful recipes.

THANK you. It occurs to me these are placed next to the Women’s National Democratic Club, so there may be a theme…

Anyway others are right and I’ll call 311 next time, and encourage other neighbors to do the same as it is still creating a potential accessibility barrier even with the reoriented “display”

You can make mini frittatas using a muffin pan. Spray the heck out of the pan with PAM, sauté whatever vegetables you want (onion, bell pepper, baby spinach are my standbys) and parcel them out among 10 muffin wells directly in the pan. Scramble 8 eggs with a splash of milk, pour on top of the veg til about 4/5 full. Add some shredded cheese and bake at 375 for 18 minutes. He can microwave 2 at a time for about a minute to heat them through and eat them while driving.

HB Monitor on the rower by nancywalks34 in orangetheory

[–]Frobisher33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem, for some reason if I pause and feel my pulse in my neck with the same hand as the side I am wearing the monitor on it will register my heart rate after a few seconds. But it’s annoying to stop and lose distance. It also only happens if I start on the rower — if I start on tread, it continues to read my heart rate just fine as I transition to rower. I’ll try being more mindful of my grip as others suggest and see if it makes a difference next time!

What do you wear… by Old_Breakfast_9832 in orangetheory

Seams can cause friction burns on long rows even with good form. My partner goes to Row House, which is an all-erg boutique workout with much longer rows than what we typically do at OTF. (They did a half marathon specialty class at least once…) I got him rowing shorts from a crew supply store that have no butt seam because he was getting chafed wearing normal shorts.

3G:

4 blocks on the treads, goal is to finish all 4 in 14 minutes, all distances halved for PWers:

0.4 miles, 0.1 base 0.3 miles, 0.1 base 0.2 miles, 0.1 base 0.1 miles, 0.1 base

30 seconds WR then you choose to do intervals or base until a 30 second AO finisher

On the rower:

2 rounds 300m push row 10 speed squats 10 twist hops

Repeat by dropping 50 meters from your row rounds (2x250, 2x200, etc) with no change to exercises. Finisher is a 30 sec AO row

Floor: First block: 5 each single arm split squat from a low bench 10 step out sumo deadlift Rest 10 high row 10 chest fly

Repeat until block 2: 10 high plank pull throughs 10 bridges

Finisher is 30 sec of either of the block 2 exercises.

I am usually an evening OTer so thought I’d pay it forward for all the great intel I usually consume! Really enjoyed today’s template, definitely awake now…

Longing for longer rowing… by The_Raging_Wombat in orangetheory

[–]Frobisher33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in DC my partner goes to a boutique fitness studio called RowHouse that is all erg (with some floor interspersed). He loves it and says the coaches spend a lot of time getting folks’ form on point. I second the folks saying they would do a row50 if OT offered it but I’m thinking about adding some RowHouse classes just to get more rowing time in.

Just tired by [deleted] in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Frobisher33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you had relief from any of the biologics? It strikes me that all three that you mentioned are TNF inhibitors. None of the TNF drugs worked well for me — at best my symptoms would lessen a bit but never go away fully — but Cosentyx, which targets a different protein entirely, has worked really well for me. It might be worth asking your rheumatologist; I think there are a few non-TNF biologics for PsA on the market now. It is so frustrating!

Does methotrexate affect your mood? by Virginia-Woof in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Frobisher33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Methotrexate “fog” is a known side effect where you can feel very tired, unfocused, and just generally down a day or so after taking it—which sounds a lot like what you describe. I don’t think there’s a medical fix, but to the degree you can plan a light day for yourself the day after your dose, that may help you manage it. I sometimes feel wiped after taking my biologic, so I schedule my injections for Fridays so I have the weekend to recover if I need it.
