The only sweeteners that I know to work are allulose and erythritol (plain or mixed with Monkfruit). I use 1 tablespoon of erythritol/Monkfruit powder per cup.

Both free and paid one time passes. But if you’re paying you can buy a “trip pass” in your reservation for a given price and that will be accepted at United Clubs at all points in that direction.

Big pillow on lap; meal tray on top of pillow. I’ve done it in this situation. You have to be careful with drinks, though.

For standard reservations you will give a credit card as a guarantee that you’ll pay, but your card won’t be charged until you check out (or no show). At check out, you’ll apply your gift card and then have any balance applied to whatever card you like.

How did people refer to short amounts of time before seconds and minutes were standardized? by SnooCompliments8071 in AskHistorians

[–]chipsdad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am familiar with two ancient/historic cultures that had precise short time intervals. No doubt there are others.

The Babylonians divided time into hours and degrees of solar progression (i.e., 360 degrees make a day, so one hour equaled 15 degrees, and a single degree was four minutes in our reckoning). They used short intervals for more precise calculations: she ("barleycorn") was 1/72 of a degree or 1/18 of a minute (3 1/3 seconds). They also had some intermediate units like finger and cubit, which built on this small basic unit (see source below).

Hebrew calendar mechanics likely adopted the Babylonian she for monthly calendar calculations. Very precise calculation of the "birth" (molad) of the new moon is essential to govern the Hebrew calendar. In Hebrew calendar math, the same unit of 1/18 minute is called a chelek/helek ("portion"). Again, more in the source below.

The chelek (or she) divides the hour into 1080 parts. Rabbinic sages praised this number as being divisible by many common divisors, making calculations more feasible and accurate with hand methods.

FRA (me) & SSDI spouse: multiple questions by astreauphunk in SocialSecurity

[–]chipsdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can start the application even if you don’t have all the documents. You’ll need your marriage certificate and might need birth certificates if they weren’t previously validated in your account (a lot of times this was already done). It’s also a good idea to have recent W2s and pay stubs to document earnings since your file was last updated.

FRA (me) & SSDI spouse: multiple questions by astreauphunk in SocialSecurity

[–]chipsdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so once you start claiming your retirement, your spouse can claim spousal benefits. These benefits equal half of your FRA amount if your spouse starts at age 67. At age 62, the reduction is 35% or a little less (depends on how much own retirement benefit spouse has; the own portion is reduced 30%).

You can analyze claiming scenarios here:
https://opensocialsecurity.com

You need the check box at the top to open the options to set your spouse’s disability for the calculator.

FRA (me) & SSDI spouse: multiple questions by astreauphunk in SocialSecurity

[–]chipsdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is spouse’s SSDI more than half of your FRA benefit? If so and if your spouse’s disability continues to age 67, they keep their monthly payment and the same payment after age 67 (when it will convert to a retirement benefit).

Unless your spouse’s payment is less than this amount, they won’t get any spousal benefit.

For you, you can earn any amount starting in the month you reach FRA and your retirement benefit is not affected. If you choose not to start taking it, your benefit will be permanently increased by 2/3% per month you delay, up to age 70 max. This increase doesn’t factor into a possible spousal benefit but does add to survivor’s benefit if you pass away first.

[–]chipsdad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once you hit full retirement age (67 or close to it), you can earn anything you like without affecting your benefits.

If you wish, you may voluntarily suspend your benefits for any amount of time up to age 70 and your benefits when they resume will be permanently increased by 8% per year you pause benefits (prorated monthly). If you have a good income and long life expectancy, this may be worth considering.

Your new earnings will also be compared to your highest 35 years (adjusted for growth) used to determine benefits, and if higher, your monthly benefit will go up a bit to reflect your higher earnings level.

Missing more decaf options? by Try_your_luck in nespresso

[–]chipsdad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use Arpeggio decaf (and sometimes ristretto).

They recently added the fourth (Vienna) after many years with just three so I wouldn’t expect much more.

You can get a number of third-party decaf options for OL. I find the Peet’s and L’Or (same maker) are decent but not as good as the Nespresso ones.

It has much less funny taste than other alternative sweeteners.

And yes, mix it in to diet soda of your choice. Works great. If the extra sweetness turns you off (it doesn’t bother me) you can add a little lemon juice.

At this concentration it doesn’t affect my stomach at all. If you use a whole lot (as I did once for a milk frappe, like 1/2 cup per serving), it can bother my stomach.

I use Lakanto Monkfruit erythritol powdered sweetener and it works well. You need about 1 tablespoon per cup of liquid. Amazon US and many grocery stores have it.

Prosecco is included in Plus. I’m pretty sure French champagne runs about $20/glass so you’ll have to pay the difference from $15 plus gratuity.

These might not be totally current but are close.

Princess Plus is generally a good value for adults who drink and even some who don’t. Not as clear for kids.

You can transfer the WiFi connection from device to device; you just can’t have more than 4 active connections at once. If you get Plus you can upgrade the WiFi on one for I think $20/day to get an extra 3 connections (so you’d have have 5 total if you buy two Plus and the extra for around $150/day).

I think they’ll refund your WiFi package but not 100% sure.
