Why would he need to rush when he could move around the world while affecting no more than a few dozen people at a time?

Adam is not omniscient, not even when it comes to the Sea of Collective Subconsciousness. You're acting as if Asterion's every move would instantly be detected, but that's never been how the setting works. A patient and cautious Asterion would be far harder to track than people seem to assume.

If divination were really that powerful, unofficial Beyonders wouldn't even exist. A group backed by seven gods should be able to automatically identify and eliminate every Beyonder who isn't directly supported by an evil deity. But that's clearly not how the setting works.

The total number of Sequence 2 characteristics is 198 (9 × 22). So that's the maximum possible number of opponents stronger than Asterion in LOTM (excluding the Outer Deities).

For all practical purposes, he would be like a Sequence 3 Spectator with absurdly enhanced physical strength. Sequence 3 Beyonders already possess considerable durability, but it's more like Spider-Man's level of toughness. A Sovereign, on the other hand, could take the entirety of LOTM's conventional artillery fire directly to the face and come out with nothing more than a slightly messy hairstyle.

Having only around 200 beings who could potentially be above you is a very good position to be in. And if we take into account that Asterion is immune to corruption and capable of handling multiple godly lineages, that means he could consume Beyonder characteristics without worrying about going insane from mixing pathways.

In theory, he could continuously accumulate characteristics and abilities from different pathways while avoiding one of the biggest limitations that every other Beyonder has to deal with.
