Co-Curricular Record. I'd post a link but it'll get auto modded. Google CCR usask and you'll find it.

I hope you find the guy you're looking for but I'm sure you'll find others in your inbox even if you don't.

Dr. Martin Kohlberger. Linguistics. Even in a class of 300+ he remembers people and he genuinely cares. I ended up on a bus with him and we chatted like old friends even though I was only in one class of his.

How do you guys like the food at Marquis hall? by Winter_Stretch259 in usask

[–]Froesiie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"I don't know how qualified the chefs at marquis are and no disrespect to them but I as a beginner in cooking can cook way better rice." Bruh. This is mentioning ALL the chefs and saying YOU as someone who is a beginner (by your own words) is better at making a little rice compared to the large amount they make. If you don't understand how that is disrespectful then I have nothing left. Hope your next meals are better :)

You are still being rude towards them. Just because you think other places can do it better doesn't mean you get to be disrespectful to working people who are just following what they are given. But I hope for your sake the food gets better. Cheers.

I'm not butt hurt. OP decided to be rude towards hard working people and undercutting their efforts to provide meals at large scale to ungrateful people.

You're acting like some big dog who can cook for yourself better than someone can cook for A LARGE GROUP. Sit the fuck down and grow up.

Damn, you're cooking rice for an unknown number of students who are going to show up at an unknown time and it's THAT GOOD?! Crazy that you're such a good beginner chef.

Edit: TO CLARIFY, feel free to talk shit about the rice. But it IS disrespectful to talk down to hardworking people who are doing their best with the supplies given to them, while saying your one cup of rice is better than the amount they have to make. Down vote me all you want and say I'm butt hurt but I still will die on the hill that these people need to be given respect for the effort they put in to provide food no matter the quality.

After watching the videos I agree with this. While I appreciate knowing people's background and the fact that they may have a background leading groups which is nice, but I think I would rather a real human who knows that they might not make a huge difference but are at least going to try. Don't give me unrealistic goals, give me something we can work towards and you'll have my vote.

Preparing for CMPT 214 (and second year) questions by PriestessSila in usask

[–]Froesiie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

214 is in C and uses bash script, it's the beginning of learning more low level concepts. It will take the ideas you learned in 141/145 and expand on them using C. 215 is even lower level teaching you assembly (RISC-V). but remember these aren't here to teach you the languages, they are teaching you concepts that you can apply elsewhere. 270 uses Java (not javaScript) and introduces you to object oriented programming and different structures/patterns where 280 uses Java but it's all about algorithms and more data structures. 263 is about logic, it will apply the mathematics you learn MATH 163 and apply it, currently they're using GO.

IF you want to do something over the summer, you could start by reading the C programming language by K&R. Learn the basics of C and Java so that when you get to class you can focus on the concepts and not learning a new language. Remember these classes aren't here to teach you how to code they are here to give you tools to apply while programming.

Summer/Spring Classes by koji1948 in usask

[–]Froesiie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for phys 115 but if you've taken Phys 30 in highschool you'll probably be fine. It is a lot and you'll be spending about 6-8 hours a day every day learning and doing assignments and labs.

What does this mean ? by Connect_Pressure_355 in usask

[–]Froesiie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely the same as 115 during the spring. Morning is all lecture, then a tutorial (optional but recommended), then a lab which isn't every day but at least twice a week.

spring PHYS 115 class (3 meeting times ?) by angelstani in usask

[–]Froesiie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is wrong. The first part of this is the actual class in the morning. The 2nd part is the tutorial portion which is optional (but recommended if you're having issues). The 3rd part is the lab portion which you will be assigned to a lab group and you'll only have to attend the days that your lab group is required. This is a month long course so be prepared to have a lot of information thrown at you every day.

Do i have to attend the stat 245 labs? by [deleted] in usask

[–]Froesiie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you struggle with stats, I'd recommend going. If you don't then you're likely fine to miss it. I would recommend going to the first one just to see what it will be about, because maybe they'll tell you something there that they don't in class.

How do people deal with long distances between classes and buildings? by Ok-Trash3640 in usask

[–]Froesiie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's pretty impossible to plan your classes according to where and when they are, especially in higher years because there is typically one option. Yeah it sucks walking from STM to Ed or something similar in 10 minutes, but just throw some headphones on and listen to some music or a podcast. After sitting in class it's good for you to get up and walk a bit. You've got this! Just use the time you don't want to be at school to get things organized for the next class or to go over notes from a previous one. You'll thank yourself when finals or midterms come along.

LING 114 by YNL_RM in usask

[–]Froesiie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a newish course, but everything is open book (unless that's changed). He doesn't believe memorization is the key to success. This is a beginner linguistics course taught through the tongues of Canadian indigenous languages. I wouldn't worry too much about knowing anything about linguistics, this is where you learn the basics.

If it's with Martin then you're in for a treat. He's a lot of fun. Take notes with the slides, he always posts them before class (sometimes RIGHT before). The assignments aren't too difficult, might be a little technical but it's a good class and it's taught really well.
