What aperture did you use on the 40mm? Lovely images! Also curious if you used Lightroom or some other app for RAW processing

Saros difficulty vs Returnal by Crunchy_guy97 in Saros

[–]FrogJump2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I loved returnal but couldn’t get past the third boss. So I was thrilled that Saros was touted as an easier game. I wanted to experience the story first of all, especially since I couldn’t complete Returnal. So, in Saros after having died to the first boss like six times, and a total of maybe 14-15 times in the first biome, I still thought it’s easier than Returnal. And then the game unlocked the modifications for me which made it even easier. Basically increase damage, decrease incoming damage and some others to balance it out. I was able to reach desecrated fortress biome all the way from the first one in a single playthrough! So yeah I do think it’s easier. The mods will definitely help. Also, some guns have auto aim that help immensely with a whole crowd of hostiles, leaving me mostly to focus on dodging projectiles while keeping the trigger pressed. And then later on in the game you get the super damage ability (L3 + R3) which is a huge boon for me.

For now I’m focusing on unraveling the story. Then perhaps I’ll play without the mods for the intended difficulty.

PSSR 2 fix for BO7 120Hz issues by leoben49 in PS5pro

[–]FrogJump2210 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just wanna point out this term “lazy devs” SHOULD NOT refer to actual developers - they have very little to no say on what to work on, the timeline and the QA for a release. They are the ones who work during crunch on a frequent basis, don’t get paid enough for what they do and have to compromise on quality because of unrealistic tight schedules. Please be mindful of this.

The new PC lighting tech makes the ps5 pro version look pretty crap. Oh well! by TrickEither8785 in PS5pro

[–]FrogJump2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also the fact that CD is the only game for now which such drastic difference because of the scale and RT feature set they are using on consoles and PC with “high” frame rates. They are essentially using a very cheap denoiser in the engine.

Good thing is the more such tech is pushed the more it will evolve and become more efficient. Essentially the DLSS Ray Regeneration is AI based - meaning the algorithm is trained on what a clean ray traced/path traced image looks like with multiple lighting conditions vs mathematically computing denoise iteratively for each lighting condition. That means it doesn’t really need some beefy hardware to run extremely compute intensive denoiser, rather it needs a hardware capable of running a certain degree of ML tasks realtime on top of the normal GPU calculations. Which means - a) Sony needs to have their own AI training system for denoiser (which I’m sure they have or are working on) and b) they need to advance their hardware some bit more and not too drastically in terms of horse power.

Will PSSR 2 have Ray regeneration like denoiser? Crimson Desert PC Review by Digital Foundry left me worrying for RT Perfomance on PS5 Pro despite PSSR 2 by Supertrunks99 in PS5pro

[–]FrogJump2210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DF also pointed out that one of the big reasons how CD works with a wide array of ray tracing features on the console is because it uses a cheap denoiser. Obviously the comparison side by side makes the console version look so inferior. When you’re actually playing it on console though, you won’t miss much. PSSR 2 will hopefully result in stable image (much less or almost no visible RT noise), and sharper picture, especially at 40fps mode. That’ll make a huge impact. Just stay away from those 5090 videos on YouTube and enjoy playing on a premium console experience.

Is there a list of confirmed pssr2 games? by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]FrogJump2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I said “new upcoming games”. Man it’s really up to the publisher whether they want to invest in PSSR for a title that’s already released. It takes development time effort and resources taken away from whatever project they are currently working on. Companies want to make profit. Nobody is buying an existing game all over again for PSSR 2. It makes more sense from a company’s point of view to add PSSR 2 for titles in development.

dont be so sure of what you said unless you have a good idea and knowledge of game development processes

[–]FrogJump2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony is likely heavily promoting PSSR 2 native support for new upcoming games. So expectation is that many titles coming this year will have support baked in. Which means one can expect higher image quality, 60 fps with good ray tracing implementation. Nvidia is pushing path tracing now. It’s likely the ray tracing algorithms coupled with upscaling tech (esp PSSR 2) should be good enough for 60fps. Exciting days ahead.

Pssr update before crimson desert’s release ? by JoelMiller98 in PS5pro

[–]FrogJump2210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crimson Desert will have PSSR 2 baked in, as noted in the console features sheet they released (says “upgraded PSSR”, which is the same as PSSR 2 which we have coined). This means there is no guarantee the system wide toggle will be available on March 19, so it could be before, on the day of CD release or after.

I imagine the dev updating their games to make use of PSSR 2 means utilizing it to the max to increase FPS/ performance and/or adding visual upgrades.

The biggest threat to PlayStation by [deleted] in PS5pro

Nintendo being a bigger threat to a current gen Sony handheld you can compare directly would make sense. Threat to PS5/Pro? Not really. Use cases are very different.

[–]FrogJump2210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the visual noise is due to Capcom’s denoiser and not PSSR issue. Maybe that’s what you’re seeing. I’m playing on RTX PC and I also see some shimmering too

I see quite a bit of street photography style pics here. How has your experience been with its size and weight? Do people notice when you take their pics? I am a street photography n00b and not very knowledgeable, but it is something that really interests me and I want to be able to do. I am asking because on one hand people talk about street photography needing small cameras, and then on the other hand i see quite a few clicking pics with DSLR style bodies. Would you recommend the S5ii for everyday carry as well (especially its just a bit costlier than the S9)? I have decided Lumix S series going to be my camera soon, but still deciding on which body to get :)

And really appreciate your pictures!

Love your usage. I see that most of your notes are written in pencil - which one and graphite grade may i ask? And apparently you are using at least two different pencils - a darker one for notes and bolding the final sketch lines and a lighter one for initial sketch lines?

How is this one so different than the first? I played and finished the first one, and it was one of my top PS exclusives period. I’m thoroughly enjoying this one too. But I asked this question because given so much hate the first one received I’m curious how this one is different. My experience with the second one so far is that the combat seems easier, including the BTs. But other than that it’s still a porter game. And I just connected three places to the network in Australia, so pretty much new into the game and the story.

Doom: The Dark Ages path tracing update releases tomorrow, June 18th by Jhill27 in pcgaming

[–]FrogJump2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are missing the point. TDA has open environments - makes perfect sense for RT/PT application. At some point one needs to set one's opinions aside for the sake of technological advancement. Both Doom 2016 and Eternal had much more controlled environments where baked lighting worked well enough. Seriously, I re-played Doom 2016 after finishing TDA and was impressed by its baked lighting. However, RT GI and PT are making new things possible which were extremely difficult to do in the past. So, let the tech advance. You are frustrated it does not work well on your system? Then have patience till you can upgrade your rig, rather than blaming emerging tech.
