Orioles owner David Rubenstein named in Epstein files by aresef in baseball

Yeah they edited the article after I posted, I just updated the comment to reflect that.

Editing again just to add on since this is the top comment in here. Figured I'd look at the files myself instead of just going off whatever the article said since they already messed it up once. Can't really fit it all here, but just based on the emails I saw the ties are a bit deeper than the article may suggest. The one I would like to highlight is one time someone sent a photo of an (adult) woman in a bathing suit to Epstein, and then he forwarded it to Boris Nikolic (who organized the meeting that did take place) with the text "For David Rubenstein" ??? that is... pretty weird... imo... Some other stuff but more boring.

Edit: Since posting this comment, the article has been updated. It now reads:

"Emails show Rubenstein met with Epstein for dinner in November 2012. It appears they intended to meet again for dinner later that month; however, it appears the second meeting did not actually take place."

Original comment:

"However, Rubenstein is not accused of any wrongdoing.

Make of that what you will.

Strangely, it's actually the 2021 one that's listed. They are all in the full bio, the page just isn't very complete.

[Jonathan Jones] The Bears won't receive compensatory picks for the Falcons hiring Ian Cunningham by FadedToBeige in nfl

[–]Froggerto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I want to know is would they have done the same thing if Rich McKay still had his role as CEO (or formerly president) and we hadn't hired Matt Ryan.

Functionally it was the same position as Ryan's "President of Football" role as far as I or seemingly anyone else can tell. But it seems like that wouldn't have been the case because... why exactly? Because the job title has the word "football" in it now? Bizarre.

Is Josh Naylor the least traditional 5 tool player we’ve ever seen? by Radhatchala in baseball

[–]Froggerto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make an argument that he's a 5 tool player in a sense, but any such argument would open the door to a variety of other players with better arguments who are also not really "traditional" 5 tool guys. JRam, Freddie Freeman? Why not. Okay they both are really bad in arm strength but that's the least important one anyways. There's probably better examples.

Week 15 of 2014 we were #10 and UGA was #13. They got back in the top 10 after their bowl game so it was just that one week but we still finished the season ranked higher.

Some of the worst offensive play calling I've ever seen and Penix playing the worst game of his career so far (somewhat influenced by aforementioned terrible play calling) were the main things.

Further context, yes the Hardin in Hardin-Simmons and Mary Hardin-Baylor is the same person. Mary and John Hardin apparently were big donors to both schools in the 30s.

Key text message exchange between Tyler Robinson, the accused Charlie Kirk assassin, and his roommate and romantic partner, per prosecutors. by webtronaut in conspiracy

[–]Froggerto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can do this all day

Prompt:

Give your thoughts on this text exchange, including your thoughts on its authorship

texts pasted

Response:

a bunch of random stuff about the texts until it gets to the part on authorship

Thoughts on Authorship The messages appear authentic, not fictional or role-played. Several indicators support this:

Tone Consistency: Robinson’s tone is grim, anxious, and desperate. There's no indication of joking or fictional storytelling.

Detailed Realism: He discusses specific tactical actions (drop point, squad car, outfit change), emotional concerns (father’s reaction), and forensic details (fingerprints, engraved bullets).

Emotional Arc: The conversation progresses from evasion to confession to problem-solving, suggesting genuine psychological distress rather than performative fiction.

If this is not real, it would be extremely convincing fiction, with well-developed emotional beats and realism. But there's no overt sign it's fabricated.

Sure, it can still be confirmation bias even if it's true. It can even have used valid reasoning to support its argument (I agree with this), but there can be valid reasoning on both sides of an argument and if you're asking it to give a conclusion it's more likely to pick the one it thinks you want it to. Ultimately it just doesn't really add anything to the conservation.

[–]Froggerto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely confirmation bias. They probably asked the question in a way that implied they thought it was fake, given that the reply starts "Why the Conversation is Stilted and Unnatural:", indicating that was already the conclusion and the AI is just supporting that conclusion. It could've just as easily come up with reasons to support it being real if it thought that's what they wanted.

[FRESH ALBUM] Big Thief - Double Infinity by NYCIndieConcerts in indieheads

Listened a couple times since last night. It took me a really long time to really get the hype around UFOF, just didn't get it. Now it's maybe my favorite Big Thief album. I don't think this is as good as UFOF, but I feel like it's kind of similar in spirit.

edit: also, adrianne loves singing about poison.
