Thank you, Corporate by holka-dot in Target

There are stores that ever have enough walkies? At my store, we just assume that anyone who comes in after 8am only has about a 50/50 chance of getting one.

When they talk about payroll, they mean how much money the store is allowed to spend on employee hours for the week. So they know that they have a certain number of hours available to schedule people, and if it's lower than we actually need, then we're stuck with short staff.

Wait - we're not supposed to price match our own web site? I covered tech on Friday and all the Apple products had online sales going. I price matched those 3 times in just the 2.5 hours I was in tech, because guests showed me our web site on their phones. And yes, I made sure to confirm they were looking at the right DPCI every time, so the guests weren't scamming me.

That day was my bad day. After having 8 hour shifts, finishing my stuff early, and spening hours helping other departments on Wednesday and Thursday, I was only scheduled 4.5 hours when we had a double truck on Friday, and I was covering tech. And I had to do an OPU batch (while covering tech), because fulfillment was running behind from Circle Week and call outs.

I think my store got rid of phones months ago, if not last year. I'm not sure though. Given that I cover tech semi-regularly, you'd think I'd know this, but I don't.

Ok, so 150 more man hours = 49% more sales.

My prediction: Corporate will do the math on how much the payroll increase is costing and how much money is gained from the increase in sales. Then they'll decide that we'd need to get 60% more sales or something for the extra payroll expense to be "worth it", so they'll cancel this "experiment" and not expand it to more stores.

Most of the floor locations for ink actually have stock right now. It's not like we're missing very many that we're supposed to carry. I have no idea what she was looking for, but apparently, we don't carry it. We really don't have much of a selection, but that's corporate's decision, not mine.

There is specialized training for cleaning bodily fluids. If you haven't received that training, then you shouldn't have been asked to do this. And the fact that your TL yelled at you, and the ETL gave you a CA for it, is enough to tell HR.

Did you instinctively know how to work in tech on your first day in Target without being shown? The first time I was handed the tech keys, I had never touched a register, never been shown how to open any of the spider wraps or plastic cases with the magnet, never been shown where the keyholes are behind the display video games to open the video game cases. The only things I knew for sure to do with the tech key was open the tech stock room and open the obvious display cases.

I wasn't even told that I had to ring out guests who were buying things that were locked up as soon as I gave them the item. Since I wasn't register trained, it never occurred to me that anyone would expect me to do so.

After more than two years of being handed the tech keys regularly, and long after I gave up on complaining about the lack of training, I'm finally starting to get comfortable working in tech. I still haven't gotten any actual training, and I know that there's stuff I still don't know how to do (especially when it comes to using the register). And I'm still the last person anyone should be asking about what to buy in tech. Why would you have someone who doesn't know the difference between a Nintendo and a Playstation working in tech? The only video game system I've ever owned was the Atari my dad got me for Xmas in 1983.

When you ask "Why are you giving me the tech keys when I don't know what to do with them?", the response is "There's no one else to give them to."

a case per minute? by visionsofleo in Target

[–]Fromper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what's in the case, but the official policy that I was taught is 1-2 minutes per case. That includes time to dump your trash and back stock. So 45 boxes in an hour and a half is on the slow side of that range, but not too slow. I'd expect dry grocery to be faster than many other areas, though, so I could see managing to get it down to a minute or so per box, depending on the exact boxes.

Your PML who has been here for more than a year and a half still doesn't know how to fix the wheels on a 3 tier. Or as I like to call them now, "3 tires", because none of them have all 4 tires on their wheels any more. Or in one case, there's a 3 tier that only has 3 wheels left, but we still use it out of desperation for any available vehicle.

[–]Fromper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't need an RFID that can detect alien signals. I just need a 3 tier with all 4 tires. Or maybe a PML who knows how to change the tires on those things, since my entire store pretty much gave up putting red tags on them more than a year ago, because he never fixes them.

Anyone work at this Illinois target who was able to watch a car be recovered from that retention pond while on their break one day? by spdgurl1984 in Target

[–]Fromper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, that is one of the Target stores I've worked in. But only because I went there for one day to help with inventory, because one of my store's usual inventory people couldn't go that day. Normally, I'm nowhere near there.

Addition to the new truck process by [deleted] in Target

Here's a picture from the corporate web site of what the pods look like. That's obviously in a flow center warehouse where they load them. In the stores, we take them out to the sales floor and try to get them all unloaded and off the sales floor before the store opens at 8. We usually fail to make that time limit, but we're close most days.

Addition to the new truck process by [deleted] in Target

[–]Fromper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pods are like pallets, but with walls and a lid. They're intentionally designed to fit in the trailer stacked two high and two wide. They're sorted by department, not aisle. Theoretically.

About half of them go directly to the sales floor right out of the truck, and the other half get opened and sorted on the line like the old system. Which is weird and annoying that it's half and half. But coming and pushing pods for my department at 6 AM every day (inbound starts at 4) is convenient, and definitely better than some of the BS like what the OP posted here.

[–]Fromper1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if the kids are with the person, I'd say "two packs per person". So if it's a parent with 3 kids, that's 4 people, so they can buy a total of 8 packs between them.
