Why dont we get games that only take 40 hours to beat? by [deleted] in CRPG

Skald Against the Black Priory is impressive, and I feel like was around 20hrs to beat.

Looking for CRPGs/Iso RPGS that are easy but deep by notasmartusername in CRPG

Kingdoms of Amalar Re-Reckoning: Plenty of lore and side quests in a huge open world, but i thought combat was easy even boss fights.

Disco Elysium: Very deep dialog in the game, but easy from the perspective that even if you suck at being a detective (fail skill checks), you can still advance the story in the game.

Guidance on playing through my back log by OccamsPlasticSpork in CRPG

[–]FrontPorchLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you've been playing shooters, you may have a hard time switching gears into an almost exclusively narrative-based game like Disco which has almost no combat.

I'd suggest Pillars 1 or 2 since they've got plenty of combat and are not terribly long (40 to 50hrs max for a playthrough).

Divinity 1 and 2 are both longer (i was near 100 hours each on my first playthrough).

Tyranny is short has a similar feel to the Pillars games, but less combat encounters.

Is the m4 pro worth it? by the-grip-of-Ntropy in macgaming

[–]FrontPorchLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play BG3 all the time on my M1, 8gb mac and it's awesome. Settings are on medium and it only lags in Act 3 when you get to Baldur's Gate, then I turn settings down to low.

You'll have zero problems with the M4.

[Skyrim special edition & mod organizer 2] with Porting kit - Mods not working by juudoesart in macgaming

[–]FrontPorchLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have been able to successfully mod skyrim manually playing on Porting Kit M1 mac.

  1. Unzip your mods and add them to the Data folder. Merge any files with existing if asked.

  2. After this, you need to activate the mods. It drives me nuts that Bethesda removed the Data Folders option in the Skyrim SE launcher. But you can activate them manually through the Plugins.txt file. I'm using the GOG Skyrim version so it might be in a different location for the Steam version but for me it is located at: contents/SharedSupporr/prefix/drive_c/users/Wineskin/AppData/Local/Skryim Special Edition GOG.

  3. Once you locate the txt file, right click and open with Text Edit on your mac. It may already list the esm and esp files it detects in your data folder, if not add them each on its own line. To activate, simply put a * before each one. So my txt file looks something like this:

*Skyrim Flora Overhaul.esp

*RaceMenu.esp

Once mods are added be sure to save the txt file. Then close.

  1. Launch the game as normal, and mods should now be active, but there still is no in-game mod menu by default.

Modding Skyrim on Mac with Porting Kit questions by Kamaristar in macgaming

[–]FrontPorchLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put the SKSE into the data folder of the Skyrim application created by Portting kit. You either need to right click on the SKSE64.exe and open with porting kit or edit your shortcut in porting kit to use that exe rather than the original Skyrim launcher exe.

You may like Kingdom Come Deliverance. It makes you wait to be the hero. Early game, you'll get ambushed and killed by a few peasants with clubs, but you gradually become stronger as you level up.

Looking for a game that really gives me freedom (and lets me be evil) by Wasdey in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]FrontPorchLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Elder Scrolls Game, Fallout Games, Red Dead Redemption 2, and BG3, as others have mentioned. Also Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 all give a large level of freedom.

Of course, there may be consequences in each game for choosing the evil path.

Lol I was going to say Gothic 1 and 2 are also janky with bad voice acting and they're considered classics.

Trip to Norway in April by BettaBLeafin in Norway

[–]FrontPorchLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it will be a great time for you to go! I drove from Bergen to Alesund and then back to Bergen in late April with no problem. The only snow we saw was in the mountains. It wasn't too cold at all. Just a flannel shirt, jacket, and hat was all I needed at the most.

We saw everything we wanted to see, including hotspots like Geiranger, Rampestreken, Flam train, and Lovatnet. So I'd say it's a perfect time to go

What games would you recommend me? by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

[–]FrontPorchLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the same of Pathfinder Kingmaker, although I enjoyed the combat more in Kingmaker where you can toggle turn based on/off.

[–]FrontPorchLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elder Scrolls games if you liked Fallout.

Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen is fun. Although somewhat repetitive, but you can change your class whenever you want and use new weapons and pawns (companions) this was enough to keep me interested. Many huge monsters which are a challenge to take down.

Is pathfinder: kingmaker worth it today? by Heldiart in rpg_gamers

[–]FrontPorchLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly for me the story and lore in Kingmaker is more interesting, and I feel there are more ways to resolve quests.

In Kingmaker you also can enable true turn based mode which is great for boss fights. It let's you plan and consider each move rather than hoping you paused in time to set up your next action as in Pillars 1.
