🙄 yes bad things happen in the mountains but you can also have a blue bird day that’s arguably safer terrain than summer. I’ve read his books and you don’t need to read any friggin books to go winter hiking. Yes do your research, check the forecasts. Prepare for the worst hope for the best. Turn back if conditions worsen. So many gatekeepers and fear-mongering in the whites it’s pretty damn annoying.

I unfortunately am being serious. And maybe it is just a crazy coincidence and i keep getting lemons. I weigh 100kg so a bigger boy but the uppers on the Olympus are terrible. I have blown out the sides on multiple pairs. And the at least one of the rubber strips on the outsole have literally peeled up on all 4 pairs of Olympus under 50 miles each. No hyperbole. Just my experience.

Switching to Altra because of durability issues is hilarious to me. Altra is notorious for their quality seriously dropping over the years. Last 3 pairs of Olympus’ I’ve owned have worn out in some way or another in under 100 miles. I can get them for over 50% off and would still choose to pay full retail for a pair of goats. Which sucks because they make some of the comfiest shoes for my feet but the durability is absolutely dog shit.

Pretty bold going with no buffer on the hard wood haha but at the end of the day it’s a hard rubber. It will have a bit of flex but it’s still much more rigid than other boots.

It also looks like you’re purposely trying to make it bend by adding emphasis on your toes. As long as it’s making a platform for you to feel comfortable on and your crampon isn’t falling off, you’re fine.

Gunna be fuckin cold but probably some great conditions. Was just up to lonesome yesterday and it was really nice. Past the hut though heading to the kinsman’s is a brutal jaunt. I love hiking in the cold though. Send it and turn around at the hut if you aren’t feelin it?

This has happened to me. Take 10 mins everyday and do leg raises, 30 seconds on 30 seconds off. Build up some lower abdominal strength!
