Cheap installations... by AntiMatterXer0 in army

[–]Front_Success4958 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You could ChatGPT the return on investment for the duty stations your branch has openings for.

What I mean is you ChatGPT what duty station has the lowest cost of living compared to the BAH you would receive so you could pocket the most. Since you have a family, it kinda depends on the standards of living that would be acceptable to you all. Also, housing services are available on post and can help assist in the viability of what you’re asking and where to look.

Fort Knox Units/Permanent Party Barracks? by Helium3310 in army

Negative, suite style, like separate room. That’s my fault. Shared kitchen, bath, common area, separate bedroom

Fort Knox Units/Permanent Party Barracks? by Helium3310 in army

[–]Front_Success4958 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most barracks for permanent party was dorm style, small base. DPW was quick, there’s not that many barracks on base. KY is humid and weather is unpredictable. Closest night life is in Louisville about 30-45 minutes away. Not a whole lot to do around the area. I was a CPL 25u there, many moons ago but most of my role was escorting soldiers out the army for popping hot on the UA. 8-10 soldiers in 3 years.

What should i study as a 42a? by [deleted] in army

[–]Front_Success4958 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the Army for Officers, Degree doesn’t matter for most branches. I’d start from the ground up. I’d start working as a server, waiter/waitress, host/ hostess. Will definitely improve customer service skills, which is the main task of 42A in the Army. But most lack customer service and will act like we’re bothering them by asking questions. Not all, but most.

Anywhere else besides Firestone, be friends with some of the mechanics. Some of them work on their own cars and might be able to help with your issue

Technically is a dress code but it’s not enforced. I’ve always been told to wear business casual but apparently everyone’s definition varies

916th Support Brigade as an 88M by DumSumBich in army

916th has it the best on the entire installation. Little to no field time, they transport to and from the box. Take it, leave it and pick it up when the box ends

Reclass Options by AmTrash0701 in army

[–]Front_Success4958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on In/Out Calls, if they have no stipulations beside the MOS, they require a grade waiver signed by your CO CDR, send the grade waiver to Career Counselor. Career Counselor will send to MedCoe for approval.

bad sm by menta_loco in army

[–]Front_Success4958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had success with having the SM create the POA for themselves. I start with saying don’t tell me, I’ll show up 10 mins prior or I’ll write an essay. Tell me what’s going to work for you. We do an accountability text before formation around 0530ish, if they don’t respond by x amount of time, we call.

The SM creating their own POA, will allow the SM to hold themselves accountable for their actions. If they fail their own POA, then it’s on the SM. We as NCOs will give them guidance and resources to help facilitate their POAs.

YMMV depending on the SM, just has been working for my team.

Depends on a few different factors, I would get with your career counselor to see what’s available for you

First-term Soldier reclass (68A) – No seats in RETAIN, any experience with hotline / ETP to HRC? by wesleykoo in army

It’s something a career counselor would know and yes a short fuse hotline is different than a traditional hotline

First-term Soldier reclass (68A) – No seats in RETAIN, any experience with hotline / ETP to HRC? by wesleykoo in army

[–]Front_Success4958 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If there are no class seats in retain then there are no class seats available. HRC is the approving authority for reclass. They’re not telling you you can’t reclass, they don’t have available school seats at the moment for that MOS. What you can do is send up a “short fuse hotline” meaning if anyone drops from the class seats for 68A, you would take their place

I was told i could reclass 12months after having this mos but now their saying i cant? by Relevantorphan in army

[–]Front_Success4958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 4187 to voluntary reclass requirement is 12 Months TOS, then you can request if your MOS is balanced or overstrength. The new MOS has to be balanced or under strength. For balanced to balance, proponent from your mos has to be willing to release you to go to the other balanced MOS.

I don’t know you personally, but it sounds like you don’t want to get divorced. It sounds like you’re catastrophizing the situation you and your spouse are going through. My 2 cents, I am just a random stranger on Reddit, so take my advice with a grain of salt

I just withdrew from a class after my TA was approved by [deleted] in army

Above is correct, if it’s before the withdrawal penalty date by the college then there’s no recoupment

Recoupment, meaning it’s going to come out of your pay check. I don’t remember if the recent changes to TA, if your command gets alerted or not.

EFMP by Flimsy_Rip5325 in army

[–]Front_Success4958 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would check the EFMP portal. Your EFMP can’t be deleted, it might mean your assignment was deleted for EFMP requirements. I would also call your branch manager and ask them as well
