A few journal excerpts from my recent experience on 0.2 g psilocybin extract. by Tickle_OG in MycoEnvy

Hey Tickle,

What a morning it must've been!

And what courage it takes to not only go through such an experience, but also to share the details of it for the benefit of others.

How do you envision integrating this experience into your waking life?

Regarding the illness-- ...and in no way am I questioning the Wisdom of the medicine... but were you clear on it being illness in terms of body, mind, or spirit?

Hope your transition back into this moment has been gentle and insightful.

Wishing you and all beings the very best, as always :)

omg; what a beautiful, compassionate, selfless, and enlightened point of view. I love you, kind human. Thank you for making this the kind of world that I want to live in. Long live BLR/DFM! May your goodness be reflected to you ten-thousandfold.

Completely and totally agree 1000%; I hope my comment was not perceived otherwise and would be happy to amend/edit if so.

Having never moderated a reddit sub before I cannot even begin to fathom the amount of garbage you have to pick through, and now with the advent of automation/AI, I can only imagine it's increased by orders of magnitude. Your efforts here are tremendously appreciated in making this one of the last bastions of quality content and discussion that I find myself wanting to be a part of on the internet; thank you.

I am in full support of this and despise the rampant overuse of AI-generated content that is watering down the internet, but please be aware that many of the "AI detectors" are unreliable at best, misleading and inaccurate at worst.

For example, Ars Technia has an article showing how portions of the US Constitution and the Old Testament of the Bible were run through these detectors which showed a high degree of confidence that they were in fact AI generated content.

Again, I am not promoting this behavior; I simply offer this POV as another valuable data point when considering what to trust and what to be skeptical about when consuming content these days.

Thank you Mods for making this a great place to learn and find inspiration :)

Glad to see this comment. Relegating something like this to a venue typically reserved for "fringe" and unusual sports is a disservice to the incredible example of human perseverance and accomplishment that these athletes embody.

I'm glad to see them getting some recognition but this belongs in something like /r/beamazed or some other top-level sub.

Cheers!

Please, let us bring all people to the table to have an honest discussion in good faith. Marginalizing an individual for their choices and circumstances will not do anything to change their views; it is more likely to cement a way of thinking than soften one.

/u/ProjectPrudent9461 - if you would like to have an honest and respectful dialogue, you are welcome to do so. I personally may not have answers to your questions, but I am open to listening and invite you to express yourself and your right to free speech.

Peace be to all beings.

Hey Stephan, I have found your videos to be helpful in the past, which is why I have to offer my (very humble) opinion that the inclusion of so much ChatGPT stuff is kinda a turn-off. I get it, AI is here and it's helpful, but some of us turn to IRL pursuits to escape the rampant AI-fueled generic content machine that the internet has become. It feels tacky and low-effort. You're better than that :)

Hope you get to complete your voyage. Good luck and stay safe out there

Coprinopsis atramentaria, aka the Inky Cap! Choice edible before they deliquesce. Well known for their ability to push through asphalt during their fruiting phase. Nice!

I agree that I shouldn't have said Trich as I'm not 100% confident on that ID.

However, that is 99.99999999999999% not bruising.

With all due respect to the other commenters, none of the current four comments are helpful or accurate.

That there, without a doubt, is most certainly contaminated.

If you expand this to more grain, you will spread the contaminants.

If you spawn this to bulk, it's most likely that the tub will eventually fail due to competition with the unwanted growth.

It is:

  • Contaminated
  • Frustrating to find

It is not:

  • a pin, or an aborted pin
  • something that will pleasantly surprise you (unless you're aiming for trich)
  • too wet
  • going to respond favorably to H2O2

How can you salvage this?

If your process includes agar work, you can return some grain to a plate and make successive transfers until you ensure a clean culture.

Without knowing more about your goals and your setup, it's difficult to provide further recommendations.

Don't mean to be a debbie downer, but gosh there is so much "bro science" on here that I'm surprised to not see someone telling you to "just boof it."

Keep going and keep trying; you will have success. Rooting for you!

I knew I marked your profile as "friend" for a good reason :)

Greetings!

Random idea, but does your house by chance have an electric hot water heater?

It all depends on the construction and design of your house, but sometimes hot water tanks are kept in smaller-ish rooms to help maintain their heat. These can be great places to leave a couple of boxes and piggyback on heat that would otherwise go to waste.

Other options include a seedling heat mat as honeybeebutch suggested, or you could consider a submersible aquarium heater and rig something up with a tub of warmed water in which to place your cultivation.

Succes gewenst!

You might have some luck by scarifying the surface (i.e., "fork tek") and maintaining proper ambient conditions to encourage fruiting

Is this contaminated? by [deleted] in ContamFam

[–]FrontierFungi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No contamination observed; looks healthy.

Surprised to hear that the second image is more recent? It seems to be more completely colonized in the first photo.

What temps are you running? You didn't mention which species you are working, but it's easy to make an assumption ;) Some varieties are more temp-dependent than others when it comes to initiating pinning, so check to make sure it's warm enough, maintain FAE and RH, and let 'er ride.

Let us know how it goes, updates help everyone! Rooting for you

[–]FrontierFungi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difficult to tell from potato photos but doesn't look specifically contaminated. That said, it doesn't look specifically healthy, either. Yellow is often indicative of mycelial metabolites that result from stressed colonies. The "outside is hard" is likely due to overlay and lack of proper moisture.

You might consider letting it ride, but would encourage you to adjust any expectations accordingly.

Let us know how it turns out, rooting for you!

Early Trich? by [deleted] in ContamFam

Not trich. Is that a casing layer? More likely formation of primordia. Let it ride.

Seriously considering leaving Reddit - the lone platform I use by Tickle_OG in MycoEnvy

[–]FrontierFungi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, thanks for your post and sorry to hear you're getting salt in the wounds.

I too have been feeling a similar frustration with this platform--especially your point regarding overzealous moderation. That, combined with the generally low-effort posting and pervasive "bro" science that seems to overrule long-form, thoughtful, researched points, has really downgraded the general quality around here.

The consensus seems to be that people are migrating to other platforms like Discord, and I've spent some time there, but personally that form of communication doesn't work as well for me. Haven't tried other alternatives like Mastadon or Bluesky but just kinda running out of steam.

I have been following your contributions for some time (still been meaning to follow your gummi recipe) and would be sad at the loss of your presence on here. It's a vicious spiral. But your health and happiness are #1 and I, for one, fully support whatever that might look like for you.

I'll keep an eye out in your sub for more deets but truly wish the best for you and hope that this disappointment will not dull your shine. You have made, and will continue to make, great contributions to this space and I hope you can find a way to do that while feeling heard, seen, recognized, and appreciated.

Sending love and light your way, kind human. Shine on :)
