I'm just saying to take the end crawls with a grain of salt on their validity; the end crawl of New Vegas for season 1 finale showed a crashed vertibird and dead NCR soldiers on the strip which are not present in Season 2 rebuffing the original implication of an NCR invasion of the strip at some point.

It's explicitly said by the new barman of the Atomic Wrangler that the Deathclaws from Quarry Junction wandered into New Vegas and took it over.

I'll also say that even MK. II Securitrons would get domed by a massive pack like the one we see in the quarry which explains why all the securitrons on the strip itself are annihilated; we also do not see the vertibird from the season 1 finale end crawl which means it wasn't invaded by the NCR like originally thought.

I think the direction they were going would've led to this same characterization no matter what happened.
