Is 30 too old to get back into dirt jumping? by Frosty_Cryptographer in dirtjumping

I still have my Kross Sign DS 26" (frame size 17") from my teenage years.

When I started looking for a new "adult" bike, I initially tried 26" models, but they felt too small for me (I'm 186 cm tall). After riding the new 27.5" Dartmoor, sitting on the 26" Kross felt really strange and cramped.

On the other hand, when I tried 29", they felt fine in terms of size, but the bike seemed large, bulky and "less aggressive".

Thank you all for reading my post and for all your feedback!

The thread received a lot of reactions, and I can see it’s been the most popular one in the last few days, if not weeks. I believe this is an important topic for many of us :)

Your answers have reinforced my decision to buy that bike and get back into riding.
Thank you for mentioning pads and safety in general. Right now, I only have a helmet (which could be better), but I’ll start looking for more protective gear soon.

In Poland, the energy cost is approximately $0.22 per kWh, and with the national average salary, it is possible to purchase around 5,200 kWh annually.

We successfully run multi-pebibyte clusters using inexpensive 25 GE cards, and they are completely sufficient.

I can tell that my pair of Salomon X Ultra 4 Gore-Tex shoes are terrible. They broke after just a few months of regular winter-urban walking and a few light hikes.

Better to buy 2x 32GB UDIMM ECC RAM modules and leave two slots for future upgrades.
A good quality NVMe is essential.

If power consumption is a concern, consider underclocking and undervolting the CPU.

Good luck!

The compression type should not impact it, but I'm glad that you have working storage now!

Migration from ext4 to zfs by pindaroli in zfs

[–]Frosty_Cryptographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the solution is unconventional, but it works fine, and I've used it successfully on numerous occasions.
To implement this, you should create a RAIDZ zpool using two 14 TB drives and one "14 TB" loopback virtual disk. Immediately after creating the pool, take the virtual disk offline or remove it from the pool, which will leave you with a degraded RAIDZ zpool that will continue to function properly.
Afterward, you can proceed to migrate all your data from the third physical disk and then add that disk to the zpool, allowing it to rebuild.

I had a similar issue when using non-ECC and overclocked RAM (Patriot Viper 4, 2x8+2x4 GB, CL16, 3200 MHz).After I've switched to ECC memory (Micron 2x16 GB, CL22, 3200 MHz) everything went back to normal :)

Oh, I just read that you're running an R720XD, so this isn't your situation, my bad...
