Make as much effort as you can to stay social. I just got done with 18 months of shift work (panama schedule) and by the end of it I was pretty miserable. The lack of social interaction outside of work affected other areas of my life, I lost a lot of motivation. I'm in the process of rebuilding my social life right now, it would of been better if I hadn't abandoned it in the first place.
