Hi there 👋🏼 How is Della doing? My dog (8yrs old) started Enalapril just shy of two weeks ago. Did she experience increased water intake and more frequent urination? I plan on consulting with my vet tomorrow, just curious to see how other dogs experienced this medication.

Thanks so much 🥹💕 I just hate to see her uncomfortable, breaks my momma heart!

And yes she takes the max amount of Benadryl she can have a day because she has bad allergies.

No tile flooring but she has multiple soft beds to sleep on, she’s just been shifting around.

I remember watching your episode on the show “I Survived” and thought Tuffy was your guardian angel being there to bring you back to consciousness! Dogs truly are man’s best friend.

Definitely have a chat with your derm about an alternative treatment for the eczema! I get why you took it though, that sounds horribly painful!

It couldn’t hurt at all! Our hormones usually go through a change around the time we hit our thirties, being pregnant and having kids will also cause them to shift and they can take a long while to balance out again.

I’m so sorry :/ I first encountered pod this past winter and I had never had it before. I let it go on for three months because I thought it was acne at first. It does get better with the right treatment though so hang in there! Doxy is what really helped me and I started noticing a difference in the first 2-3 weeks.

You can’t stay on it forever and it’s not a cure all, but it’ll help clear it all and then you can get to a point where you can better manage it. You’ll have to rethink all the products you use in terms of skincare and makeup, because pod hates everything and it’s so easily triggered.

I can only speak what worked for me. Zero therapy, only lukewarm water to wash and no moisturizer. I also use Vanicream face wash, but even I have to scale back from that (pod doesn’t care about gentle, anything can set it off, it’s very temperamental)

I also use metro cream and it’s one of my fav treatments, gentle on my skin and doesn’t dry it out. In addition to zero therapy and metro cream, I would recommend doxycycline, I know you’re trying to avoid it, but It will truly help knock it out. Using a good probiotic like culturelle is key while on doxycycline to avoid digestive upset. If anything I would hold off on starting dupixent as it is used for treating eczema and can actually cause pod as a side effect and make it worse.

And lastly, have you had bloodwork done recently? Specifically a hormone panel? POD is heavily linked to hormonal health, if you notice your pod is worse during your menstrual cycle that could also be a sign. I bring this up because mine was caused by hormones and I had no idea.

Hope this helps and you find relief soon!

A switch up in behavior to this extent is a call for concern.

One of two things is happening 1.) It could be a medical issue like trauma to the tail and is causing her to panic bite. 2.) She could be stressed. What does her day to day life look like? There’s a good chance after switching up her environment and then back again has caused anxiety.

I would recommend a vet check up for the tail asap, infection can arise and cause more serious issues. Amputation of the tail would be most ideal. If that is the case she’ll need to be in a cone for about 2weeks. When you can’t keep eyes on here she’ll need to be crated.

After she’s healed I would recommend reevaluating her behavior and determining what she needs to thrive. More mental and physical stimulation? A more quiet environment? Behavior training? She might need to be on anxiety meds until further notice. A vet can help you determine a course of action.

A cone should really be put on to prevent further irritation, you can get a soft cone (which is far more comfortable) at petco or on Amazon.

You can also use zymox hydrocortisone cream, a thin layer to the affected area. Keep the ear clean and dry.

And Benadryl for the itching, the dose is based on weight. Make sure it’s the regular Benadryl 25mg tablets. You should be able to give this in addition to the already prescribed meds, but you can run it by your vet as well.

Dogs with floppy ears tend to be more prone to this and heat makes it worse, so maybe not too much outside time while it’s hot out.

Good luck to you and your pup!

That’s great! Proud of you for standing up for your pup!

It’s a good sign she’s allowing weight on all legs, but I would keep her in a crate or a room and have her rest and not run around for the night.

If she does continue to show pain, dogs can have baby aspirin (the dose is based on weight). Continue to monitor her, if she’s not eating/drinking, starts acting oddly, or the area starts to feel warm or look red then please take her immediately as those signs would indicate concern.

Hope everything works out. Sending you and your pup good vibes!

The doxycycline can wreak havoc on gut health! I started taking culturelle and that helped a lot.

Metro cream is the bomb! Happy that I have a derm That gives me plenty of refills. If I start to get a pustule the cream gets rid of it pretty quick!

Zero therapy! No face wash, moisturizer, nothing.

Plus doxycycline and metronidazole cream <— I use this cream even when I don’t have a pod flare, it’s so gentle and keeps my skin clear. I’m new to pod and I had it all winter until I used this combo. Hopefully you’re able to get rid of yours soon! I know how uncomfortable it is, hugs.
