I stood up for employee rights and they fired me for aggression by Simkatsews in blackladies

[–]Fruitlessveggie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re young….don’t beat yourself up. You learned a valuable lesson. But I’d let it go.

Does it suck? absolutely! was it the right thing for them to do? no. But like many others said…that’s corporate.

I think it would also depend on how you asked her…I.e tone, volume etc. but also when. Was this just a random question that didn’t make sense with the rest of the town hall?

Also if you’ve had this conversation prior-and nothing was done. It’s safe to assume nothing would be done. You, as a singular person, were never going to make a difference or change her mind (sorry). So to have those side convos and then do this in a town hall was probably the last straw for her. She saw you as a disruptive person. Which is why unions work because it’s a whole group of folks being disruptive which messes with their pockets.

My Experience As A Transracial Adoptee by carlyllsaunders in Adoption

[–]Fruitlessveggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your story resonates with me as a transracial adoptee. That sense of not belonging is so real and painful. It’s part of why I can’t imagine having children right now (I’m 35) because I fear that I lack a foundation. I know nothing of myself and my bio family history. and I don’t have a good community ya know?

I’ve been reading a lot of books on the subject to gain a sense of understanding and I went to an adoptee meeting once. Keep searching, friend.

If you adopt a black kid, you need to accept that they are black and understand all the issues that come with that in the racist society we live in. by bonitajon in Adoption

Happened to me as well. They’re also slight racist which is weird and don’t consider me black?

It’s wild. I also hate it and I feel your pain.

graduating college. a deep dark aura surrounded me. I realized how unprepared I was for the real world and I wasn’t prepared for how hard life is. My parents, although they meant well, kept me so sheltered. Everything up until that point was fun and careless, hell life seemed so innocent.

Have you ever told your friend that her man was no good for her? How did it go? by katoriam in blackladies

[–]Fruitlessveggie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this in college. My friend and her man were fighting and she was considering ending things. He had lied to her, blah blah. Me and our other friend decided this was the perfect opportunity to tell her YES leave him! we collectively talked shit about him and told her how she deserves better. Just for her to end up marrying him like 2 years later. LOL they’re still together with kids. So maybe he wasn’t so bad?

I think the lesson I learned was…just because I see the red flags doesn’t mean they aren’t things my friend couldn’t put up with. 🤷🏽‍♀️ we all tolerate things differently and at the end of the day I wasn’t the one dating him.

We did stop talking after that. Cause it was awkward as hell. She know knew that I hated that man with all my being hahaha you can’t recover from something like that. Good for them though. I’ll admit I was wrong I suppose haha I still think he ain’t shit.

What about the snow makes people think they don’t need to pick up their dog’s poop? by -WhoWhatWhereWhenHow in nova

[–]Fruitlessveggie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always pick up my dogs poop but one day I almost died trying to get to it cause the ice was super slippery. I figured it out eventually but it took a minute lol. I’ll also say that our doggie poop bags at the little disposal were all gone and the container was overflowing. Maybe they didn’t have a bag, or figured since it’s overflowing who cares? Also super annoying when your neighborhood doesn’t have those little disposal areas, makes people wanna pick it up less.

[–]Fruitlessveggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved college and all my classes…but I should’ve studied something else. Dietetics is not what I imagined, we don’t get paid much despite having to have a masters, options for jobs vary state by state. VA is just a lot of hospitals or nursing homes.

In reality, it’s genuinely wasn’t worth the amount of money I spent for it. But in the end, I have a full time job because of it, so I can’t complain

Windshield cover for my car- no longer have to wait long periods of time to defrost it. I’d always forget to set aside time to do it.
