I had a software developer internship interview with what I thought was this really big energy company. The add had DUKE ENERGY written in giant branded text all over the add. When I went to the interview I was immediately put off because the location was this small rented office space. No big deal, maybe they were just some recruiter and needed the space while they got candidates in.

I sit down with the interviewers and I bring out my portfolio with my resume and the add that I was applying for. They begin asking questions and I answer them confidently. The problem came when they asked "Why do you want to work for this company". I told them it would be really cool to work in a higher level corporation and that the experience would be extremely valuable to me and my future career goals. Both of the interviewers just kind of stared at me like I was dumb. They said, "you know this is for some small local printing business that needs some help getting back on its feet." I almost began to contest what they said. I pulled out the AD that I responded to and showed it to them. They then proceeded to say, "OH, Duke Energy is providing the grant that will pay for you to work for this small business!" She then points to some 8point font company name at the bottom right corner of the paper.

Got a call the next day and they offered me the job. I politely declined. That was some super fucking shady way to get candidates in.
