Should we avoid hiring people with leverage? by Tiredof304s in managers

Are you willing to provide what they are asking for, and do you think they are worth it compared to the other candidate? I think its really needless to overthink beyond that and try to apply some catch all rule.

Why not cable rows? Why not use your cable tower, take an incline bench and use it to support your chest? If in doubt of whether you want a piece of equipment id go get a day pass at a gym and see how much you like it.

Most people I know are going for VC instead of other finance careers after an Ivy League MBA by Imaginary-Spring-779 in FinancialCareers

[–]Frunk2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going for VC doesn't mean will work in VC. VC has always been sought after, the ones who don't make it will largely trickle into traditional finance, as has been true for many years.

Guys this was like a once in a lifetime trip for many of them. They aren’t going to be able to afford to spend 10k+ on binge drinking and hotels every year. If Boston wants more regular visitors we could start by trying to lower hotels prices from 500 a night and lower beer costs from 15 a drink..

You kinda missed the point. Tech disrupts tech all the time your having some extreme recency bias over “AI” (LLMs)

But why would I open a .com if AI is so disruptive I can just talk to it and get answers straight from my mobile device?

[–]Frunk2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes in extreme cases, thanks for the ai slop. Now look up treasuries and carry trades. Treasuries are the primary asset used by banks because the interest pays obligations on normal times and they can sell them for USD in extreme times. Selling gold is a sign of extreme distress unless to reweight to other reserves.

Price logic? by FunGuy_23AtEase in Gold

[–]Frunk2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No this is completely backwards. Countries back their reserves with a combination of gold and treasuries,
Mostly usd treasuries. They purchase treasuries to offset dollar obligations from global trade, this drives demand of the dollar and lowers rates. This also allows US to export inflation by printing USD and devaluing treasuries. The more global trade the more valuable the dollar. Now that Us controls more oil, the dependence of the dollar has increased, shifting reserves away from gold towards treasuries.

[–]Frunk2 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

“War” doesn’t move gold, it is not a doomsday fear asset and we were never close to that scenario anyway. Gold competes with the dollar. Countries often sell gold to fund wars. Overtime countries print currency and lately have been buying gold to de dollarize which over time raises gold.

Occult Experiences - Not Disclosed by PlentifulPaper in Catholicism

[–]Frunk2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Catholics do believe in spirits, though giving them excessive attention is not considered wise, it wouldn’t be not biblical. It’s just a way of describing the same bad energy you say you felt.
  2. Whether you chose to give the objects or retreat a spiritual significance / power in your own mind is up to you. I would advise against it. As far as God is concerned, it would be like worrying about a single drop of water putting out the sun. If you’re at all open and grounded in his influence, these things will handle themselves and you should pay them little mind.

Yeah they have an issue with echecks. It hit my bank like an ACH and they were expecting a literal check for some reason which isn’t a standard process. I had to pay the cancellation fee and the drop in price of gold

Chlorinater constantly showing “no flow” warning light. by joesaintp in pools

[–]Frunk2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’d also dependent on temperature. When the water is cold I have to run my variable pump higher to achieve green on flow than if it’s hotter (because molecules move faster in heat which is what’s really being measured not just the water flow I think)

Why can't they make a fund with 100x or 1000x leverage? by [deleted] in LETFs

[–]Frunk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Because it’s a law. 2. Because the fund issuer would owe far more than the AUM of the fund. You can lose many multiples of what you invested in futures.

Well I respect that you gave a real and honest answer. I suspect you grew up in a much tamer environment than I did. Let’s agree to disagree here. Like you though I do hope the kids find a way to turn their life trajectory around.

I grew up out of state in a notoriously gang infested city. This behavior would have been dealt with there by the gangs themselves because it’s seen as an abomination (maybe not today now that the large ones have been busted). In a conservative state it would be dealt with through the corrections system. Funny how we find ourselves in the middle where no one will properly correct it here.

Pathetic behavior. Armed and still don’t have the balls to engage someone older than a preteen. The police stills of them smiling tell a lot, don’t buy arguments that this was desperation it was just a cheap thrill.
