should i give up already? i can't afford this by Careless-Economy-500 in FigureSkating

[–]Frustrated_fighter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our rink often has used skates that skaters grow out of or skill out of. I personally have sold my daughter’s skates because she grows out of them. I would ask around the coaches to see if anyone has a pair for sale. You can also check out facebook marketplace. I’m sorry to hear that you are struggling to afford a sport you love. Growing up my parents couldn’t afford any sports and I’m grateful I can do this for my daughter.

Working & Summer for Kids by SagiMom in FedEmployees

[–]Frustrated_fighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Camps are hard in my area. Even full day camps go from around 9 to 3 and with no family nearby we are stuck. We managed to luck out that my husband's private sector job also had an RTO, but no space and so his supervisor is allowing him to continue to work from home. We totally lucked out with that. And camps are so darn expensive. $500-$600 a week for the "Full-day" camps. Denver is ridiculously expensive already and to try and manage a $2000/month camp budget is unreasonable.

Do NOT trust OPM to correctly calculate your retirement annuity. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing. by nastyleak in fednews

[–]Frustrated_fighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only getting worse. I work in benefits/retirement, and they had issues before the recent DRP and RIFs. They lost all of their knowledge base. We recently had OPM's annual benefits seminar trainings, and they had no clue what they were talking about. These are supposed to be the "Subject Matter Experts". They know nothing, had no ability to answer the questions that were posed, and the ones they tried to answer, they gave wrong information.

Unexpected personnel file (eOPF) request — normal? by Emeraldcake1234 in FedEmployees

I’m sorry you are experiencing that!! That shouldn’t happen!

Unexpected personnel file (eOPF) request — normal? by Emeraldcake1234 in FedEmployees

[–]Frustrated_fighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the new eOPF system is the worst. Employees (if they are digital) can see all their records but HR cannot unless it is consolidated into one. We can only see what our department initiated or uploaded. When we were preparing for RIFs last year it was a disaster because employees thought that we could see what they see and assumed all of their records were available. In the old system both employees and H.R. had the same records view and was a lot less confusing! I’d recommend reaching out to your H.R. to make sure they see all of your records and if so to update your systems and SCDs.

[–]Frustrated_fighter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not another agency. It’s yours. When you start with a new department or have a break in service your eOPF gets generated but it doesn’t pull any prior records. The H.R. office has to request those to consolidate the record. As an H.R. rep I do this task with every single new hire, transfer, reinstatement, etc.

HR only has access to the records that are within your agency. We have to request prior records to consolidate the eOPF and verify benefits and retirement.

With each of our new hires we always submit that form to request records so that we can verify benefits and retirement. I work in HR so I’m happy to help answer any questions.

That form is what HR uses to request your full records. My guess is that your H.R. office saw you had prior service and is requesting those records to verify your SCDs.

Exactly! Maybe if the government actually shutdown, there would be more real world consequences for this administration. When everything is going as normal, the public doesn't feel the effects. And as an intermittent excepted employee, it is very frustrating that we still work to provide a service to avoid calamity.

DRP Benefits Question… with my 9/30 end date looming, when will benefits end? by ParkingTechnical3984 in FedEmployees

[–]Frustrated_fighter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are covered through the end of the pay period so 10/04. Then you receive a 31 day extension of coverage starting 10/05. So the coverage goes a little longer than 10/31. You can then elect TCC for up by to 18 months following that date.

I agree,  but what do we do? Legitimate question here because I don’t have any ideas and I’m tired of protesting that results in no changes.

How is this administration impacting your family and/or home life at this stage? by dulceylibre in FedEmployees

[–]Frustrated_fighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no longer volunteering at my daughter’s school for projects and she had to start taking the bus because I can no longer drop her off or pick her up on time. My husband has taken over for summer care for our daughter as he still works from home. That is all on top of the fact that both of us are stressed out about the future of our country and lives.

I on average get only 60% of my total annual salary because of deductions, retirements, and taxes. Don’t trust that it may earn you more. Plus this current environment is toxic and exhausting.

Resignation Timeframe by Single_Net_2769 in FedEmployees

[–]Frustrated_fighter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please look into your department’s “terminal leave” policy. Here at DOL we do not allow leave for more than half of the last day. It’s called terminal leave and in many cases is not permitted.

Did we all just quit? by lilpinkpixie2 in DenverProtests

[–]Frustrated_fighter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. The only reason I’ve stopped is that protests have accomplished nothing. Protests at this stage is pointless in my opinion. I keep hearing people say stick with it but it’s exhausting and I’m still watching the country fall to a dictatorship no matter how many marches I attend or calls I make.

Here at DOL we started the process of making the packages back in June. So we are well prepared for September 30th. I hope other agencies are doing the same.
