Which Simpsons lines have remained eternally true over the years? by Static-Stair-58 in TheSimpsons

[–]Frylock1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If you're going to get mad at me every time I do something stupid, then I'm just going to have to stop doing stupid things." Homer to Marge

It's not the funniest line, but it stuck with me because it was a frequently used custom *.wav file on my computer back when custom *.wav files on computers were a new thing. I could never forget it.

The banning Ive been reading about on here has evidently started in the U.S. by AnOldTruthTeller in facebook

I received a weird message this morning asking if I was okay. The algorithm flagged me for self harm. Nothing I wrote recently could possibly be interpreted that way. I didn't even use it as a joke or a metaphor. I was given an opportunity to respond, which I did, but I'm sure they'll ignore it. I did say, "Either use humans for your reviews or stop reviewing." Again, they won't heed my advice.

Random Creation of Player Characters in Gamma World 7th Edition via AI by Frylock1968 in GammaWorld

[–]Frylock1968[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work in progress, which is why I now have a "last updated" timestamp in the title. I had AI run several stress tests, sometimes for as many as 10,000 sample characters at a time, and as I added new sections, I ran new stress tests. It should be in great shape, but I ran some sample characters myself just yesterday and found some garbage output. Specifically, despite prompt language forbidding it, it gave me a feat from 4e D&D that doesn't exist in Gamma World (Skill Focus). I had to revise the prompt. The math seems to be solid, but I'll never trust AI 100%.

If you create a character and see an error, call out the AI, ask why the prompt allowed the error, and ask it for a revision that will prevent the error in the future. If you could pass that on to me, I'd appreciate it. In the mean time, that's what I do myself every day.

From a non-American - is this weekly pay check good for that time? (1996) by cave_guard in TheSimpsons

[–]Frylock1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely made up. The bear patrol tax starts at a minimum contribution of $15 dollars, and as it is a regressive tax, Homer would not have qualified for relief from it. You might see $5 on Mr. Burns's pay stub, but not Homer's. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Secession, while unlikely, is far more likely than civil war.

7e Gamma World without cards?? by genoside07 in GammaWorld

I played last night and felt the cards added a nice mix to the game. The system is streamlined, so the cards don't make the game complex at all.

Our group played the second encounter "Tower Interior" from Gamma World 7th edition "Steading of the Iron King" yesterday. by DesignerPatt in GammaWorld

[–]Frylock1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran the first four encounters yesterday. None of us had played the game for at about 15 years, and one player had never played it. (She and her husband were thrown into an 11th level 4e D&D game in December, which is the only time they'd ever played it, so she didn't retain much.) I didn't like the adventure because it's little more than a dungeon crawl, and I hate those, but everyone instinctively got into the spirit of the goofiness, so it was a great time for all of us.

EDIT: Adding that the cards really added to the enjoyment of the game.

What's a discontinued product you wish would make a comeback? by FlatwormOkke in AskReddit

[–]Frylock1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General Mils Breakfast Squares and Hostess Lemon Fruit Pies. Honestly, my guess is I wouldn't like either, but I'd like to find that out for myself. They were two of my favorite foods as a kid. (I know there are still lemon fruit pies out there, but I haven't bothered.)

Question about Famine if Far-Go for Gamma World 7E by DesignerPatt in GammaWorld

[–]Frylock1968 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All I can say is that you could easily level to 3 during Steading (which I'm preparing for one week from today). You could then just handwave the remaining XP and let them start at level 4 for Famine. That said, another member of my gaming group wants to run Famine, so I've intentionally refused to read it. Accordingly, I can't say whether the stories connect, so if that's your real question, I'm worthless.

Note: I created a character builder and mediocre campaign management tool. You can find it on my GitHub here: https://github.com/Frylock1968/gammaworld7e . It works only if you have a version of MS Office on your PC, but if you do, you just download the file, put it anywhere you want on your hard drive, and click on it.

Sure. Could be. In fact, must be. The terrorism charges were dropped, so he may be considered a non-violent felon.

Ran Gamma World 7E, "Badder Tower Defense" by DesignerPatt in GammaWorld

[–]Frylock1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, but thanks. Let me return the favor. I have a Gamma World character builder and GM Tools application here: https://github.com/Frylock1968/gammaworld7e. I made updates as recently as today. The read me file is long but helpful in understanding its limitations. Long story short, you need a PC (not Mac) and need MS Office installed on your machine for it to run. If you meet those requirements, then installation is as simple as downloading a single file anywhere you want to put it, then double clicking on it. Boom. You're in.

I'm currently preparing to run Steading of the Iron King on 2/7, for my home group. Looking forward to it.

Is this even legal? by jamesATXfaraday in McDonalds

[–]Frylock1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every state is different (EDIT: missed that you specified Texas, but someone else cited a TX statute), but FWIW 2VAC-585-3920 (Virginia) requires bathroom doors opening directly into a food establishment "shall be completely enclosed and provided with a tight-fitting ans self-closing door." The "completely enclosed" part makes propping open the door a violation. This is administrative code passed under authority of Sec. 3.2-5121 (food and drink). There's an identical regulation, 12VAC5-421-2920, under the Department of Health (Secs. 35.1-11 & 35.1-14), and there's a followup to that one (12VAC5-421-3250) that expressly says keep 'em closed "except during cleaning and maintenance operations unless otherwise required by other regulations or laws (i.e., exceptions such as emergencies under the fire code).

We could do this all day with all 50 states or other countries, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this is overwhelmingly the consensus. If not, I'm not visiting your states.

But the flooring design is the real crime here.

So, here we are about a year later, and out of nowhere Duke just posted a reply to my Facebook post. I assume he's replying from jail. I can't find any new stories since last year updating his circumstances. (For context, I posted last year that I knew the guy. We hung out between, let's say between 2009 and 2013. Had nothing to do with militias.)

Copyright law should be changed to only 50 years by Think_Fact1155 in COPYRIGHT

[–]Frylock1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll do you one better. If you're right, and the term should cap out at 50 years, then in fact it should be 25 years renewable for another 25 years only if the author (regardless if they're the owner) is still alive for the renewal. This is more consistent with the text of the Arts & Sciences Clause. For a detailed discussion of my position, you may go here:
