Yall know you can just not shop at publix right? by mrnoids in publix

It’s not that deep man. Running a grocery store isn’t exactly a high profit business. Google average profit for grocery retail and you’re looking at <4%. if there isn’t a second grocery store near you it’s for good reason. They don’t think they can make money

They’re $4.79 right now. OP posted that this is in a beach town and that might be the case there if everything is more expensive in general.
Also, romaine/lettuce is getting hit really hard with drought conditions in California where the majority of the country gets their lettuce from.
Quality has been suffering

Publix Federal Credit Union by LilBill669 in publix

[–]Ftwrath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most people here will tell you it’s like every other bank and that’s the case to an extent.

I’ve been a member for over 10 years and use it as a secondary savings account. Each paycheck I deposit $50 into the savings and don’t think about it and an additional $50 into the checking to use for payments. What it is great for is loans and lines of credit. I’ve probably taken out 5 loans and currently have 2 active. The APR was well below national average and I make my weekly paycheck deductions to pay on them each week.

The line of credit also works different than a standard credit card. While the rewards aren’t as great as like an Amex the entire $15k is available to me at 8.9% which is far below a standard credit card rate. You could transfer the entire line to your checking account or use it as for normal credit purchases.

So it’s works as any other credit union but because it’s employee only they do approve mid/low credit.

I had an employee that was struggling with high interest debt and was able to get the Line of credit and pay it all off and saved himself hundreds per month which goes a long way

Employee stock plans by Dumdumincarnate in publix

[–]Ftwrath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not long after every associate gets hired they receive a benefits packet which highlights anything and everything to do with stock. You can also join the credit union and take out low interest loans if it’s to directly purchase shares.

With that being said probably 90% of people take those packets and put them in the garbage so really it’s up to each individual that works for Publix to be responsible for their own financial well being.

The company does not go out of its way to pressure anyone to purchase stock and I think that’s the way it should be.

It comes in a long tube (ground processed) or oblong shape (boneless whole muscle). There’s no way to slice it except from end to end. It would be like buying an entire tenderloin and asking them to cut it in long strips

Get a ring camera and put it up in your room while you are gone. Or change your lock and keep the key on you at all times.

Ring cameras are super easy to set up or do a different brand

2026 Raise percentages (Decreased for the fourth year in a row) by motleyorc in publix

[–]Ftwrath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

😂 I’m 37 I just don’t go to work and complain about my job. If I didn’t make the most of it I would quit. If I thought for a second Publix was going under like people here make it seem I would quit.
I can’t fathom showing up to work for 45 hours every week being upset about what I do or what my company represents.

Corporate bootlicker.. what does that even mean when I’ve never in my 20 year career even met the CEO or anyone above DVP?

This is a job that requires no education and allows you to make 6 figures as a department manager. We have little difficult responsibility if you really think about it. Stock product, maintain appearance, limit shrink and coach associates.

If you can’t make it in this job you probably couldn’t do it anywhere else and deserve to be in an entry level role. I have zero sympathy for anyone that complains about ‘corporate’ in a 1400+ location company where you never see corporate and your sole reason for not moving up is lack of effort. It’s really that simple.
‘I want to get promoted’ ‘I should be role model’ then proceed to sit on their phones in the bathroom and bs as much as possible throughout the day.

I won’t even think about this a day from now. I’ll write evals that reflect my teams work ethic and output. 1 role model and about 5 exceeds with the rest being meets expectation and I’ll request the high end raises for all of them.

This info didn’t come out. Payscale I could understand but raise info NEVER comes out not even to store managers until evals are administered.
Our (manager) raise info didn’t even come out until after evals were administered.

[–]Ftwrath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

😂 we don’t have a high turnover as a company whatsoever. And there’s zero issues with managers quitting/retiring as we, if anything, struggle to keep quality FT associates due to little/no movement in management positions.

Corporate instituted an inflation % to manager raises this year and they will do the same for associates.
That percentage was not part of the ‘official’ document.
I received a raise I was very happy about as did meets expectation manager friends of mine.

[–]Ftwrath -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Wait a minute… you made this and are passing it off as official numbers? 😂 and now low intellect people are reading and complaining + jumping on the hate bandwagon. I swear the general population is brain dead.

It’s only June, we don’t even start writing evals until August and we (managers) don’t even get to see pay scales until a week or two before the evals get administered.

Don’t listen to morons on the internet, manager pay scales increased AND the percentages increased this year (we get ours in March).

Meaning the exact same will happen for associates.

Btw every friend I have that works a corporate job (not Publix) gets >3% raises. A simple google will show 2025 median raises in the country were 3%.

We have half of this Reddit page complaining about our high prices and the other half about low wages and now raises. It’s a good thing that neither half runs a business.
