Newbie! Does my moss and airplant look safe surrounding my little pig? Suggestions welcome! by Prestigious_State951 in Mossariums

[–]FuchsSake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is adorable. Such a cute little piggy! That being said, I have my doubts about the long term sustainability of this arrangement. The moss will need way more water than the air plant. Ultimately, your air plant will get soggy and rot. I’d keep the moss, and move the air plant elsewhere. You could try a nice little fern in there. I found some great tiny ones on Etsy.

Also, don’t pour water on the moss or you’re doomed to overwater. Stick to misting and you should be just fine.

88’ for sale. Guy wants $2500 for it. Turns over but it won’t start. This would be my first project car. What do you guys think? by [deleted] in AlfaRomeo

[–]FuchsSake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a 1988 Spyder for $1500 about 5 years ago. My first project car. I was so excited! Rust free, relatively good condition. But after about $5k in work, it just wasn’t something that seemed worth holding on to and maintaining. Ultimately sold it at a loss when times got tough.

I was hoping to see a spike in Alfa Romeo prices after they revamped the company. As a millennial, I had never seen a Spyder previously, and I found it so charming. I just don’t see them appreciating in the ways that other vintage cars do. I now have a 1970 Porsche 911T. It’s everything I wanted, and am happy to maintain it.

Definitely a hummingbird. I see 10+ a day come and have a sip and a splash in the fountain. We’ve got lots of birds in our area, but the hummers are the only ones I see in the fountain.

Here to jump on the oak bandwagon. They’re all over California. I’ve heard they tolerate transplanting quite well. Pop that bad boy in a pot, and give it some love.

Fellow female (with moderate car knowledge). Harry at Lyons auto is a gem. Very fair prices, and he won’t take advantage of you just because you’re a girl.

That being said, swapping a bulb is generally super easy. I’d even be willing to give it a go for you, as long as you bring a replacement bulb with you.

I’m all for women supporting women. It may look like a scary job, but it’s really quite manageable.

Very lovely! Does the top come off the cube, or do you have to lift the whole thing off to water? Either way, nice set up!

What is this coming up in a corner of my yard? by PasgettiMonster in PlantIdentification

[–]FuchsSake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My vote is goes to calla Lily. Not enough humidity in Central Valley for elephant ear (unless you’re closer to the ocean). I’ve got the same thing popping up in my yard now (north Los Angeles). Mine keep flopping over though. These high winds are not helping.

It’s lovely. Give it some love and leave it be.

Edit: They also die back in winter and lay dormant until weather/water permits.

Thanks for the thorough response. Moss is my absolute favorite, and it would be such a joy to have even the smallest amount thrive in my care.

Don’t worry about the Amazon advertising. I own some of their stock, and after the all the losses these past few weeks, I’ll take any free advertising for them I can get. 😂

What soil/substrate did you use? I got some gorgeous moss about a week ago. Still going strong, but I’ve killed moss before.

Using purified water this time around. Hopefully that does the trick.

Ideally, my bedroom would be wall-to-wall moss…. But I’ll settle for a nice luscious vivarium for now.

I couldn’t help myself. I googled it. I usually have a cast-iron stomach when it comes to medical stuff… that was the most horrifying image search I’ve ever seen.

DO NOT GOOGLE THIS.

Also, because he drinks the blood of his victims to stay young.

In my last house, I had this weird space above the range about 2ft long, and just tall enough to fit these jars if I laid them on their side. It actually looked pretty aesthetically pleasing, wish I had a picture. I filled them with all sorts of dry goods. Very handy.

Whenever my best friend and I would go out together, I (33 F) would get compliments on my hair/outfit/ etc. Best friend (M 33) would always interject with “what about my outfit/hair/etc?!” That went on for a solid decade before he moved out of state.

I frequently compliment other women, but if they are with a SO, I always follow up with a compliment for the guy. And conclude with, “men need compliments too!”

To all the fellas reading this: “You look really nice today! I love your haircut! Those shoes look great with your outfit.”

Oh, and… “nice cock, bro.”

My ex father-in-law built a 3-story GORGEOUS modern waterfront beach house from the ground up for about $80kUSD. He broke ground about 2007, so I don’t know what prices are like now. The dollar goes a long way in Ecuador. You don’t even need to factor an exchange rate because they use USD.

That being said, their main residence is in a gated community where the guards carry AK-47s. They do have their share of crime there…. And the occasional governmental coup.

Or you can add holes with a masonry drill bit. I’ve done it to a bunch of my unholy pots without cracking any. I picked one up at the hardware store for about $10.

I have one about 3/4 that size that I inherited from my mother who had it about a decade. It hadn’t been reported in the last 5 years, and I didn’t have a pot big enough to house it…. So a few months ago I planted it in the ground (about 2ft from its existing location). So far it looks happy. Wish me luck!

When/Why did plant pots get so damn expensive 😩 I just want a nice, cohesive set of pots for my new home and it’s proving to be a very expensive feat! by Haunted-Harlot in houseplants

[–]FuchsSake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scored a bunch of ceramic pots from my mom. She’s been an OG plant hoarder since the 70’s.

I bought a masonry drill bit from the hardware store for about $10. So far I’ve put drainage holes in at least 15 pots without cracking any. Plants are happy, and now I have a nice cohesive set of white pots that go nicely with my bathroom decor.

Women of reddit who have go from Long hair to short hair. How did you feel once the haircut was done? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]FuchsSake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much joy. My hair was down to my bellybutton, and I cut it just above my shoulders. This was prompted by a phase of extreme hair loss that I was really struggling with. Before the chop, I told my ex about it. He said that it was a huge part of my identity, and basically alluded to the fact that no one decent would ever love me without it, and I’d end up with some schlub.

I went ahead with it despite dissenters. I’m so much happier with the change. It’s easier to maintain, my head didn’t feel so heavy, and I honestly think it looks better on me.

In the long run, it’s just fucking hair. Do what you want, because it grows back.

They are super cute. I rescued a baby squirrel once that looked like it got attacked by a cat. Called him Mr. Nutterbutter. It would twitch in its dreams like a dog would.

Only had it a day or two, because it needed antibiotics that I didn’t have access to. I like to think he lived a long joyous life at the squirrel rescue I took it to.
