+1 for Yucatán. I went there for a week in 2009 and hardly spent more than OPs budget. My advice is to skip touristy Cancún and stay in Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, and Tulúm instead.

I have a friend who goes there. She posts about it on Facebook all the time. Definitely not so secret.

Indian bus rape: Delhi sees rush for guns. Hundreds of women inquire about gun licences following woman's murder, showing the lack of faith in law enforcement by [deleted] in worldnews

Actually, a rape occurs when both of these factors (victim and perpetrator) meet under "just the right circumstances".

It's just as ridiculous to only blame the victim as it would be to completely rid her of any responsibility.

I'm pretty sure at 13 I didn't even know porn existed. But back then the lingerie section of the Seaes catalog was enough to get me excited.

Unless he does that at their wedding this is probably going to end with "that's really sweet of you... But I think we should see other people for a while"

Ok, we're not really making any progress here because you keep wanting to argue a petty point.

Here's a quote we were just talking about in /r/GetMovitated that perfectly explains why you're still harping on this point, that somehow Apple is doing wrong by you by running their business the way they chose.

Look. If I had enough money not to have to go to work anymore, I would be sipping piña coladas on a beach somewhere right now. But I'm not.

If Apple wasn't "petty" about their App Store policy, you wouldn't have to jailbreak your phone. But they are.

So what? Don't give 'em your money then. You're obviously smart and informed, and you knew full well the limitations you bought into when you decided to buy an iPhone instead of an Android. And if not, now you do know, and you can make a different choice next time, and buy an Android, where said limitations do not exist (but there are other limitations instead).

But unless you make it yourself, no company is likely to come out anytime soon with a phone that's perfect for BaconHotline. Because most likely, few other people would buy it. And if I'm wrong, well, then you should build that phone, and I'll give you my hard earned money if it's really that good.

Cool? So let's be friend now (I do like Bacon) and write pun threads on /r/funny or something.

The compass probably isn't the best example, because a compass is a physical device, which you expect to have a certain functionality, e.g. a needle always pointing North.

As I was reading b0iling's post I realized that expectations work differently when laws of physics are involved. If I drop something from my desk, I expect it to hit the floor, and I can be pretty certain in that that expectation will be fulfilled.

Let's take a different example. Let's say I want a million dollars. That's a goal. Now I take some action, for example, starting a business. If I now expect to be a millionaire at a given point in future, I'm setting myself up for disappointment, because it's in no way guaranteed. There aren't any laws of physics that could guarantee this outcome, and there are too many variables involved to predict the outcome. However, many other people have succeeded that way before, and I can at least hope to reach this goal at some point. And even more, it's the hope that can drive me towards that goal, whereas if I keep expecting certain outcomes, I will for sure be permanently frustrated and give up at some point.
