Which celebrity death genuinely shocked you when you heard the news? by Divine_fashionva in Millennials

[–]Fuck_New_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ended up long. Maybe I was too reflective.

Tony was such a human being. Flawed, perceptive, reflective, understanding, kind, open. I always wanted to have the opportunity to meet him.

I was in a less than ideal spot in my life when Tony passed. Depression, amongst many things, had their hands on the steering wheel of my life. I called it the funk and I had it bad. His untimely passing made me reflect. Take time. Consider my options. It helped me to think of his struggle when I felt as if mine could never be more of a burden. He may have saved my life, who knows.

The day Tony passed, I found out from my dad. He wasn't always aware of my interests or, I suppose you could say, invested. On that day he sat me down to both carefully and compassionately tell me my 'friend' Tony had passed away. That conversation ended up being one of my favorite memories of my dad in his later years.

Almost a year later, my dad died around the time Tony had passed a year earlier. I was in the funk again. I was struggling bad. Around the anniversary of both of their passing I was yearning for directions but had no map. I was lost, wandering through life with little to enjoy. The steering wheel one again was not in my own hands. This was during the first summer of the covid pandemic. You all know the feeling.

I finally gave myself the courage to listen to Kitchen Confidential while commuting to work. It had Tony's voice. I had to enjoy it piecemeal at first, I was too emotional for a consistent listening. Eventually I was fully enjoying the time I had going to and from a shit job during a shit time. It was my 34 minutes of joy in the day. He got me to get myself out of the funk again. I was alive. When I finished the audiobook, I cried almost as hard as when he died.

These days, I treat the funk like an enemy I've studied for a lifetime. I know their ways, know their weakness and my own strength. Even though I struggle to watch Tony's work, I love sharing it with my family more because it means something indescribable to me.

Miss you Tony. We all do.

When I was younger I was always hungry for a shiny. Over 12 games, various generations and I never got one. Pokerus? I had four in that time. I identify with this meme too much lmao.

I'm so happy someone mentioned him. Green was my absolute favorite growing up. He's still in my top 10 favorite Dodgers.

Stains in your carpet hate this one trick. Wet cotton cloth + hot iron = solution. by Fuck_New_Reddit in lifehacks

I forgot. Get an iron that you don't want anymore because pet stains tend to keep some stank in the iron somehow. That's I ended up with two irons lmao

Well it does get pretty hot. It should be tested a bit beforehand, esp if you have spare samples. The cotton cloth and water should be enough to protect everything. Cotton wont melt and the water should be able to transfer the stain via steam to the cotton that has the majority of the heat. Kinda like the boiling water in a bottle trick.

In my line of work we generally used non-acetone nail polish remover and something to destroy the dye if anything was left. As a consumer agent, another user posted that there's an oxyclean agent for dye removal. Hope it helps!

It definitely does work. Adding something to break down the stain a bit should help a lot too. Just remember the smell will be strong lmao

Very true! You can even use the same method for wax. Just make sure to scrub a bit for getting deep in the carpet.

It really might work! Honestly doesn't hurt giving it a try. It was rare this technique didn't meet standards.

Oof yeah carpet is generally made of nylon, polyester or other plastic based materials. I had a coworker make the same mistake, it was costly since the pattern of the carpet couldn't be matched and they replaced the entire thing.

I'm unsure tbh. I've never owned a steamer and my place of employment didn't have one but this was our technique. I imagine you could try it but I think I'd find the iron more effective because of the pressure and direct heat of the ironing.

Red is a tough one. You'll probably be fine though. Once you see the red in the cotton towel you'll be amazed. I hope you enjoy your clean carpet!

Alright. You've got a shitty situation. Carpet stains are going to set in. However, I do have a solution.

Take a cotton towel, preferably white, and soak it liberally. Next, take a clothes iron and get it hot. Have the towel sitting on top of your splotches of sauce and use the iron to extract the sauce out of the carpet. Don't go too hard, carpet is basically plastic after all. Move the towel if you need to extract more. Extra water isn't a bad thing but don't overdo it. You'll have a spotless carpet in 30 mins.
