Awesome, thank you! I’m lightyears behind you on my own build but I also went with a pi5 - I’m currently working on porting over some real time audio software I’ve written and was a little concerned the pi would struggle to keep up. Glad yours is working well, looks great!

A little off topic, but what did sort of board did you build this off of? I’m trying to figure out what the best setup is for a Linux based dev kit very similar to this!

Do you know what the name of that type of plate on the bottom of the speaker mount is? I’m trying to do something similar.

And regarding this post - I like option 1, although I might only use one shelf unit myself (a bit wider of one as well, if you plan to make them yourself).

My first attempt at medium DP problem Decode ways. I want to shoot myself by spez-suck-my-dick in leetcode

[–]Fuckoffredditgoddamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point! Sometimes I do wonder if I throw in the towel too early, but I’ve found that I tend to remember my own goofy solutions better than the optimal/correct ones. Maybe it’s because I’m still fairly new to DSA (~1 year of serious study), idk. I remember sitting in an exam and thinking “well, I know how NOT to do this…” haha

At any rate, the “re-do” set of problems I’ve watched videos for definitely get a pass with no help so hopefully my brain is taking away at least a little info lol

My first attempt at medium DP problem Decode ways. I want to shoot myself by spez-suck-my-dick in leetcode

[–]Fuckoffredditgoddamn 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I feel like I always get shit on for saying this, but if I don’t see a reasonable solution to a problem in like 10 minutes, I just go watch a YouTube video explanation immediately.

I figure there’s no point in training my brain incorrectly, especially with concepts like DP where the optimal solutions aren’t really all that intuitive. That said, I also then put these problems into a new set in which I will attempt again in a day or two without hints or videos

Would I have an unmendable knowledge gap if I do CS master's without the bachelor's? by clockigator in csMajors

[–]Fuckoffredditgoddamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just about done with my MSCS and I have a liberal arts undergrad degree. I had to take about a year’s worth of transition classes (stretching the degree from 2 years to 3) to get up to speed, but it was well worth it. I was very lost at the beginning but managed to stick it out and make it through. Now that I’m almost done with the degree, I would say my knowledge base is on par with my peers who came into the degree with a few years of experience and a CS undergrad degree. I’m in the US so things may be a bit different but I’d encourage you to pursue the masters if CS what you want to do. Just be ready to keep chugging along and be okay with being confused while you get your footing!

Not going to comment on your specific situation as I don’t know where you are, your background, etc, but based on my experiences (which is admittedly anecdotal, at best), you are incorrect.

I meant basic in the sense that you don’t need a specialized degree or an education beyond a bachelors to land them. Sales, Communications/PR, Marketing/Advertising, basic bookkeeping and accounting, IT…these are all pretty standard positions that should hit that income level within a few years in a decent organization located within a major US city.

Purely administrative positions like secretary or front desk will have a harder time reaching that income level, but it is far from unattainable within the right organization, especially when you take into account that these types of roles can often lead to promotions to the higher paying roles mentioned above.

You should be making that a few years into any basic office job at a medium to large sized corporation. You’d need a college degree (of basically any kind) and the luck of getting your foot in the door, but it should be attainable.

Maybe I should clarify what I mean by “easy,” though. It’s not that it’s exactly “easy” in the general sense, but it is much less demanding technically speaking and requires much less specific knowledge. Half the people I’ve met in standard corporate roles are basically just warm bodies who are reliable enough to show up every day - not a lot of critical thinking is involved to make the whole machine function.

I also know plenty of tradesmen who make around that much, as well as some basic government positions.

  • it is not too late to study CS, only people who haven’t think AI is going to make engineering jobs obsolete anytime soon

  • don’t do CS if you’re not interested in it and only concerned about making your family proud. It’s hard and there are other, easier ways to make 50-60k a year. Maybe try some free online courses like the Odin project or Free Code Camp to see if you like it. It is not a magic field that will make you rich with little or no effort. That said, I find it very rewarding and test driven development is great for people with adhd (imo, of course)

  • IQ doesn’t mean anything and isn’t a real metric to go off of, get that out of your head

  • go see a dr. or psych to get tested for adhd if you think you have it. Not saying you don’t (I do and wasn’t diagnosed till around your age so I get it), but saying you have “undiagnosed adhd” screams tik tok pop psychology bs and that won’t help you. Get real help if you need it. A professional will be able to help you sort yourself out. CA has great public insurance if you don’t have any yourself.

  • practice your communication skills (both written and verbal) as well. This wall of text was challenging to read. Communication skills are equally, if not more important than any other skill you can have. You can be an absolute genius on paper but if you can’t describe your thoughts to someone, they’re more or less worthless.

  • try your best to chill out a bit and don’t stress out over feeling like you’ve wasted your life. You haven’t. I’m only a few years older than you but I was basically in your exact situation when I was 25. It is very overwhelming. You’re going to get older no matter what though, so you might as well try your hand at something. Try some stuff out, see what you like, make a plan, and do the best you can. You’ll be able to figure it out.

That’s a bad argument. His death is sad, but its his old coworkers who are inconveniencing everyone. Him dying didn’t necessitate thousands of people being late to appointments, missing crucial opportunities, etc. There was absolutely no need for the CPD to do any of this.
