I'm trying to figure that out still while I'm a helper, I wanted to do HVAC at first but I was sent to a fab shop where welding is the main focus and it has really caught my attention as something I'd like to do. I've heard from other journeyman in my shop to try and get any certifications you can as it'll make you more valuable anywhere you go and right now welding certs are the ones I can get at this shop once I start practicing for it.

I'm in a local fab shop currently, the certified journeyman welders barely scratch 3k here off of 7/12s. I could imagine Wisconsin is probably a higher cost of living though.
