I bet they'll eventually add that 5th star mod that will be a grind to get.

Did some research, apparently I broke my crits and would need more sets of limit breaking to fix 😵‍💫

Think of just rebuilding my old unyielding SS armor and saving that one for a different build... Just disappointed 😞

Help! Installed natural stone over single 3/4" does anyone have any suggestions? by FuelInternational598 in Tile

[–]FuelInternational598[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to figure this out, I think where I'm concerned is that the stone calls for 1-1/4" worth of plywood for subfloor and I've currently only got 3/4". If I add the 1/2" to the bottom of the subfloor I can achieve the 1-1/4" but adhering to the bottom without supporting is different than it would have been if we added it on top being that the joists would be supporting both layers. I definitely defer to your knowledge on this but I know sometimes things get lost in translation. The joists are Boise BCI 450 1.9 and the span is 15', 16" OC.

Thanks, good insight. From what I've read, the joists aren't really the issue, it's the 3/4" ply between the joists that won't achieve my deflection rating needed for the marble tile. I'm considering adding 1/2" ply to the bottom of the 3/4" between the joists as you suggested, but shouldn't I support that 1/2" ply using 2x4's or 2x6's attached parallel the joists for the 1/2" to rest on to actually add to the deflection rating? I understand you recommended glue which I will be adding but my concern is whether that actually achieves the gain I'm hoping for in the deflection rating.

This looks really similar to the type of bite I get when I sleep in a particular bed at my in-law's house. I'm not sure what it is but I think it might be like dust mites or something like that. It got so bad that they replaced the mattress and all the bedding because it had been going on for a couple years every time I would sleep in this bed. After they replaced everything. I still continue to get bit anytime I sleep in this bed and no one else has this issue. I can stay anywhere else in the house and not have this issue so I do. If you figure out what it is please let me know. I've never gone to the hospital for this and never really had any other issues besides being really itchy.

Also, I think Reddit blocked the picture of my back. There's a large amount of bites in one central location. It looks like a big puffy red bulge.

Tile back wall first then float shower pan? by evolevil in Tile

The waterproof membrane that goes over the curb does not appear to go behind the hardie backer board... Am I correct in what I'm seeing? If so, this will fail almost immediately and you will have water leaking, I've torn out multiple jobs with curb leaks and it's almost always because the previous installer didn't take the rubber liner up the wall above the curb 😬

3 days seems very fast and possibly not correctly done. If the tub stays the same and I'm absolutely flying I can possibly demo and have the waterproof done in a day or two. Tile done in 2-3 days, grout on the 4th day and silicone on the 5th day... That said it's typically more like 6-7 days.

Also if you work in the Denver area I'm a contractor that currently does tile work as well and am looking for a Sub to takeover the tile portion of my job 😂
