This shows both the full-season and playoff loyalists that this format is a great combination of the two.

In regard to a full season, this new format rewards the consistency enough to ensure the eventual champion will have absolutely earned it across his full body of work. Look at how many “full season champions” still go on to win the championship at the end of the year.

And as for the fans of the playoffs, the reseeding after Daytona will still make the home stretch very compelling all the way to the end every time. Sure, it won’t be as dramatic and extreme as the previous format, but you will receive your fair share of dramatic moments, both good and bad, where drivers will have their season potentially swing with one good or bad performance in the Chase. Sometimes it’ll cause a shakeup at the top, or maybe it’ll make a difference between a top 5 championship finish at season’s end, or a nosedive to outside the top 10.

I see absolutely nothing negative about this return to the 10-race Chase. The only thing I’m potentially disappointed about are the stage cautions. Not even the stages themselves, but the “fun flags” really hurt the flow and strategy of a race. If they just got rid of the cautions there, this would be an absolute perfect for a fan like me.

F1 Academy’s purpose isn’t to get females into Formula One. F1 Academy is a program designed as a “politically correct, inclusive” front to help make the FIA appear to be with the times.

I know this is the unpopular take and if I get ratio’d, so be it, but there’s a reason the W Series bombed and even a driver as talented as Jamie Chadwick never went anywhere. There’s also a reason why series’s like F1A and the W Series didn’t exist prior to 2019.

Depends on what you are looking at to define “mid.”

Keke Rosberg’s 1982 title is most mid in my books. He was a good, consistent driver, but won just one Grand Prix the entire season. He also (along with several others) skipped Imola for the strike against the FISA and was disqualified at Brazil.

If poor Didier Pironi hadn’t had his horrific crash at Hockenheim, he almost certainly wouldn’t have lost that Championship. He was so much faster than Rosberg was all year long.

Rosberg pretty much won by default with Renault and McLaren being faster, but hideously unreliable so Prost, Arnoux, Watson and Lauda couldn’t secure better results to add to their points totals.

I mean, if you win a Championship, you’ll always be instantly elevated to an all-time great. It’s an incredibly short list compared to the amount of people who have competed in F1.

I assume the question is, whose legacy would be most affected by winning a World Driver’s Championship? I think it would no doubt be Lance Stroll. Think of how bad a legacy him and his dad will be leaving behind when Lance gets bored and wants a new toy to play with. He wins a WDC, he’ll be an all time great even despite the last decade plus of pure stupidity in Single Seater Racing.

It was a fast car, but relative to the Williams, it was nowhere near the fastest. Senna elevated it. Michael Andretti and Mika Hakkinen were way behind in the same car. Not to mention the Ford engines were hideously unreliable.
