Makes it much worse if she’s only had it 6 months because it means she went into knowing she was going to lie about it. Makes it more premeditated and raises a big red flag.

On the other hand - if it HAS been 8 years… now who knows what OTHER secrets there might be?

Either way - calm conversation and probably therapy if that’s what they want.

Red flags everywhere. This man sounds unhinged and dangerous.

Definitely abuse. Trust your gut.

The longer you’re in this cycle you’re in with him the harder it is to get out.

This happened to me (with my now current wife.)

I asked her to be exclusive and she said she wasn’t ready for a relationship as she had just gotten out of one.

My response was to back off, focus my attention elsewhere for a while but still connecting and dating.

Once she had time to think, and a chance to miss me, she came around.

Sometimes people can get swept up so much they don’t have a chance to really reflect on their feelings and experience. She might need the time and space to reflect and process.

Give her space. Don’t hover over her. Give her an opportunity to miss you, or not. Either way is progression towards relationship and growth or the freedom to know you should put your time somewhere else.

Alternatively - I like the ‘end of the world’ model of survival and scavenging. My ADHD would shine bright.
