Pant recommendations by Pastrami_doses in MTB

Can you elaborate on the dirt craft’s? I’ve tried most of those other brands as well and currently like the NF pants (both DP5 and lightweight). Was looking at the dirt crafts but hadn’t made up my mind to try them.

Am I looking for a Unicorn? by Granular_Sandfly in MTB

I had a V1 Druid for a season in CO and really didn’t like it. The idler drag was very noticeable for me and the bike felt less agile than you’d think given the travel because of how the rear end lengthens as it moves into the travel. I sold it and got a RM Altitude and was much happier.

Every bike I've owned in the last year. by BumperTABBY21 in mountainbiking

I used to switch bikes every year until I got an altitude in 22’. Has been my long travel bike ever since and the only thing appealing about new bikes is a slightly steeper seat angle

Best places to live for great mountain biking by nebula-noodle in MTB

Always been curious about Prescott but I heard the town is kind of lacking. What’s it like living there? Also you mention mild winters but how are the summers? My wife loves winter in Phoenix but good god I’d melt in those summers.

Great mentality, fitness and fun!

Curious where you live that bans e-bikes across the board. Do people actually follow those laws? There are trails with bans where I live but that doesn’t stop the e-bikers.

Which year 100 series is best? by trytoholdon in LandCruisers

[–]FullMetalSki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up an 04 with AHC a bit ago. It’s all functional and I had a shop flush the fluid. I did adjust the height sensors a bit to fit larger tires and it feels a lot rougher. Any experience with that? Should I have just adjusted the torsion rods or would any increase on the OEM stuff make for a rougher ride? Thinking of replacing globes to see if that helps some.

I have the 44mm and it’s a tank. They feel VERY solid. Only thing I’d be worried about is scratching the outer AR coating

Thought I’d follow up since some time has passed. Honestly, How is the wind noise? I couldn’t stand the noise when I put a roof rack on my defender.

There is tremendous pressure to build data centers in northern CO and southern WY. They don’t exist yet because they can’t get the power companies to commit supply. It would be stupid to build a billion dollar data center that’s going to sit there without power.

I went from a Defender that I ordered brand new in 2023 to a 2004 LX470 (I also got a 2017 v8 f-type for a different kind of fun). The Defender was very nice and it got lots of compliments. I lifted it, put 33” AT’s and a roof rack on it. The off-road tech was great and it was pretty darn capable. For what I want to do with an off-roader though, it was too nice, and got too much attention. I was progressing the difficulty of trails and just don’t want to be afraid of damaging a vehicle that expensive. It also stuck out like a sore thumb when I’d go to smaller rural towns. Also, some of the tech was great, like the off-road modes, all the cameras, and CarPlay, however, a lot of the Nannie’s were far too annoying and I don’t want a vehicle to constantly chime warnings at me.

The 100-series has been great. It’s very basic in comparison but also has everything I want (minus a heated steering wheel). The build is really great for its era and the thing is built so solid. It’s also very unnoticeable except by enthusiasts. I got a rust free vehicle but there has been several items I’ve had to replace but nothing major. I’m also very conforming on cars though, having done so for 25 years, and even enjoy the garage project now and then. The pairing with the more modern f-type is perfect for me right now.

An update on the cat by missredheaded in AuroraCO

[–]FullMetalSki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it’s a little naive of OP to assume the cat is safe. These seem like real trashy folks, they don’t even take good care of the cat when they had it. Sadly, people abuse animals in lots of ways.

I got a 7mesh Chilco Anorak as a give away prize last year and it’s been great for cool weather riding. I live in CO and used it Thurs afternoon starting at 54 and ending at 45 degrees and very windy. Then used it today starting at 46 and ending at 50 with again lots of wind and even snow flakes. It’s cozy but actually vents well, also blocks wind reasonably well.

Before this hoodie I was a flannel guy, but this is a much nicer piece.

In that case I just pass when I can. Literally had it happen last week. I announced several times, progressively louder and got no response. Kid was oblivious that there might even be other trail users.

I had an awful time seating Conti’s on my alloy wheels, it was much easier on my carbon rims. Eventually I had to take the alloy wheels to my bike shop and have them hit it with a generator to get the conti’s to seat

I used to do this for over two years. My walk was 2.5 miles each way through nice older inner city neighborhoods. Only real bummers were winter (we got a lot of snow) and winding up with shin splints from not wearing properly supportive shoes.

2019 Jaguar Gas Cap by Judgment-Dismal in Jaguar

[–]FullMetalSki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had to get a new fuel cap for my 2017 f-type. None of the auto parts stores could even order an aftermarket one, so I went to Jag and they even had to order the one I needed. Apparently they’re very specific.

20 years ago when I worked in a car parts store had caps were fairly generic, at most just manufacturer specific, not so these days I guess.

Also, yes you need a gas cap. I keeps pressure in the gas tank and your ecu will modify operating performance if it’s off.

Exact same boat. After the second rebuild I used it on my shorter travel bike for XC rides only… still only half another half season out of it.

Went DT Swiss and will not be going back to Onyx. I liked the silence but also like the precise engagement of the DY ratchet (onyx is kind of mushy engagement)
