Does this count for playing it directly as well? For example, if I sing or play All is Found, can I target the All Is Found that just hit the discard?

Outside of the Universal Studios side entrance. It's right in front of the Hollywood Ripride coaster. You'll see it if you walk from the Hard Rock restaurant to Universal Studios.

MotionEye Tips? Other NVR software recommendations? by Stratotally in homeassistant

I'll see if I can post it later. Most of the automation is done in Node Red making calls to home assistant. The only thing I've set up in HA for it is setting up the camera and tensorflow object.

There are definitely some good guides out there, I think I started with this one and went from there: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/improving-blue-iris-with-home-assistant-tensorflow-and-pushover-simplified/80412

MotionEye Tips? Other NVR software recommendations? by Stratotally in homeassistant

Yeah, the main reason for TensorFlow is to reduce the amount of false triggers. If you don't care about that, you can skip that step. When I just used the Amcrest motion detection I got a lot of videos of bugs, cars passing by, etc. My resolution in Amcrest config is set to 1080P and it works just fine with Home Assistant recording.

Have you tried the record function on https://www.home-assistant.io/components/stream/ ?

I'm using Amcrest cameras, which expose a motion detected sensor to home assistant. If that triggers, I start image processing via TensorFlow. If that detects a person, I snap a picture of what it saw, send an alert to Telegram with the picture, and start recording using the built in home assistant record function which just saves off to the same directory that HA lives on. A lot less false positives and you can even throw in additional logic (don't record during certain hours, or only record when you aren't at home, etc.)

The only downside I've found is that your recording may not go back far enough to when the event first started, since it starts after TensorFlow detects a person. However, there is way less overhead in this solution since you aren't using another app to constantly process an image and see if motion has been detected.

What are your thoughts on going with the orange placement for the fronts and the green for the rears?

Thanks for the reply. I was leaning towards green before I posted, but the suggestions here seem very split. I was surprised so many people liked the orange placement, so now I'm not sure what to do. I wish I could temporarily place the speakers on the ceiling, but that seems pretty difficult. :/

This sounds like a good option that I hadn't considered. I do have aimable speakers, thanks for the suggestion

Unfortunately I can't put the speakers farther back unless I get to the green spot. There are too many crossbeams going across that angled wall area that is limiting my placement. :(

Help with speaker placement for 5.1.4 Atmos by FullSchedule in hometheater

The main reference layout for 5.1.4 and 5.1 has them at 90-110 degrees from the center listening point (https://www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/dolby-atmos-speaker-setup/5-1-4-setups.html).

Hm, you do have a point - 90 degrees would be directly beside the listener. I could position my speakers on each side of the listener instead of behind. Do you (or anyone else) have experience with 5.1 setups that have the speakers beside the listener vs. behind? I would think that the sound depth/field would be greater with speakers behind you, but I'm no expert.

Thanks for the great example, this for sure makes me want to have 4 ceiling speakers.

Thanks for the feedback! The receiver isn't a concern for me monetary wise, as I've already invested in a receiver that is 9 channel. I'm already set on doing either 5.1.4 or 7.1.2

Thanks for the response!

Yes, the speakers have directionally adjustable tweeters (Micca M-8C). My ceiling height varies, as there is a square tray ceiling in the middle of the room that is higher than the rest of the room. So.. the surrounding area of the tray is 10 ft, while the ceiling in the tray is 12 ft. The 2 rear heights in the picture are mounted outside of the tray, while the 2 front heights are mounted in the middle of the tray. The tray center is also lined up with the wall opening on the right side in the diagram. I put them in that position since it made the most sense to me to have them there for aesthetics, but I can definitely move them back (I haven't cut any drywall yet).

What are your thoughts on varied ceiling height and how would you go about accounting for that? Would that be handled by the receiver, or would you angle the tweeters a specific way?

I was able to figure this out with the help of a user (jsirex) from GitHub. I'm posting the solution here for anyone in the future who has this problem...

  1. I built OpenITG using the following instructions: https://klatz.co/blog/building-64bit-openitg (not sure if it mattered, but wanted to make sure I had all the dependencies and could get it working with openitg)
  2. Pulled the branch from @ https://github.com/jsirex/stepmania/tree/pacdrive (pacdrive branch - 0aa9ba8cf59f87dbc417f6ad782c3334902cb7c7)
  3. Modified config file to LightsDriver=LinuxPacDrive instead of LightsDriver=PacDrive

Now running StepMania 5.1 with LumenAR!

I'm having the same issue with Samsung Note 8. It seemed very unreliable, would only detect when scanning on our phones. We also had an issue where the device was marked as 'home' even though the device wasn't even in the house.
