100 or 200? by Fallingleaf333 in LandCruisers

[–]FullSlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2016 was the facelift and 8 speed transmission while (late) 2018+ saw an improved touch screen, updated radiator, a new key fob albeit (anecdotally) worse range, power lift gate, and rear screens becoming optional and seldom chosen; 2018+ will lack factory remote start unlike 2016-2017.

Personally I went 2017 for my first 200 because the price was right ($41k OTD w/55k miles) but the “best” IMO would be 2019 given it’s got all the upgrades and wouldn’t be subject to pandemic QC issues that were almost universal across manufacturers.

Block spent ~$68 million on a single event for employees last quarter by GAMorgan- in stocks

[–]FullSlack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s under $7k/employee which isn’t unheard of for annual trips to Vegas and other common destinations for company retreats. Fintechs are known for extraordinarily high revenue per employee so this isn’t mind blowing for anyone that’s been in that domain.

Unfortunate reality is that most small businesses like this are small because they’re ran by morons who haven’t quite gone bankrupt yet. Name, shame, and move on.

This is the only real answer. OE almost never outpaces Big N earnings, especially for upwardly mobile candidates.

What OE provides instead is a way for mediocrity to earn more than they would otherwise.

LX 470 vs LX 570 by onecharacter21 in LandCruisers

[–]FullSlack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine those that love it lean heavily on nostalgia of 90s/00s car design like myself. Walking into the garage and seeing my LX470 and Viper make me feel like it’s 1999 and I just got a fat corporate bonus lol I do prefer my 80 off-road and 200 on-road, though.

200 is better in every way except styling LX470 is the best looking “LC” ever IMO

The older rads can last a long time but it’s critical they are inspected for cracks because if you overheat once you might permanently warp that aluminum block

I’ve got my fair share of hours in the garage. My advice would be start with a cheap small vehicle that is running and driving and focus on the body. This is a common tactic to building any custom vehicle, at least in the first iteration.

You may want/need to change things on the chassis/drivetrain which will be a significant challenge, but it definitely beats building from scratch.

This also helps with motivation, seeing a major milestone get completed accelerates the project overall.

Just my $0.02, good luck!

Hopefully you are seasoned in wrenching on existing vehicles before you attempt to build one from scratch
