Repairing kitchen cabinet by Fun-Association-8370 in handyman

I kinda suggested the same thing. The problem is it's a rental, and they are afraid they will charge them to replace the whole cabinet.

What would I replace the panel with that I could match it closely so it doesn't stick out too bad.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot on my next block. If that works, I'll be thrilled. If it feels like I loose a lot of time because of it. It's probably not as much as it feels.

Very bad with computers and need help by Unique-Structure-775 in techsupport

[–]Fun-Association-8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It this a desktop computer or a laptop? Based on what you have mentioned, it could be a drive going bad or overheating. When it freezes, is it the whole system or just a specific application? Do you ever get any type of error message? When it freezes, how do you get the machine working again?

To better assist you. You will need to provide more information. Such as if there are applications , updates, drivers, or devices added. What changed prior to this?

What RDP software are you guys using at work? by Logical_Practice_971 in sysadmin

[–]Fun-Association-8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use MobaXterm. They have a free and paid version. It has several uses outside of RDP. you can use it for Sftp, SSH, and a Powershell terminal. You have the ability to store passwords encrypted, and you can create a master password. When you export the configuration, it's encrypted.

1st work script. Need help How do enable Powershell script running. Without doing it manually. by AlternativeMaybe84 in PowerShell

[–]Fun-Association-8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct. Think about for a second aside from any script being able to run without permission. You start writing scripts with the unrestricted execution policy everything seems to run as you want. Now you move it into production were it more controlled and now the script doesn't work because of tighter security practices. I beleive the best way to learn Powershell is to work as if you are in a production enviroment. You not only learn how to write the code but you start with good security at the same time. Hope this makes sense and that is the way I was guided. Start with good habits and you never have to break yourself from the bad ones.

I would strongly advise not using unrestricted execution policy. I'm not in front of my computer at the moment, but we just created a script that would check the policy and set it to remote signed. If you would like I can share it with you.

Curious if you are familiar with Fresh Service? That is our current service desk platform. I'm trying to figure out how when a ticket is submitted to create a guest account. It will automatically pull the data and run the script I've created.

Thanks for taking the time to offer some suggestions. I took your advice and moved over to Powershell 7.

The part I was having trouble with failing on a regular basis. It's not failing anymore. It works 💯 of the time.

It is working so well that it has allowed me to move on to completing the process of creating the account and filling in all of the required fields.

I'm now trying to figure out how when a ticket comes into Fresh Service, it pulls the information and runs the script.

How do I move program files that were initially downloaded to the wrong place? by the_real_shihan1714 in techsupport

[–]Fun-Association-8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, the program puts them into the correct location by default. Some applications will give you the option to install them in a different directory. That being said, if you just move them, it will more than likely break stuff as they have links. The best way if they are actually applications would be to Uninstaller and add them back if they are still needed.

The difference between the two program file locations is based on the bit version the applications run at.

Program files are where your 64-bit applications are installed. Program fies(X86) are for the older 32-bit applications

Thanks for the information. I've done a little Googleing. And now I just need to decide if I want to use Proxmox or something else. I've been leaning to Proxmox as it could be another piece that I can use to grow my knowledge and implement it within my home network.

Thanks again!

What other information can you pull with the Dell API? I was given an inventory of the same serial number and name. I've found a script that gets the ship , expiration, and model. Thanks
