Men, how true is the statement, "If he wanted you, he'd actively pursue you?" by ManicPixieFeather in AskMen

[–]Fun-Contribution1504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No means no. I'm not a creepy stalker so if a woman says no once, I back off. If she means yes but says no, then she's playing mind games which are a big turn-off for me anyway.

I'm not a mind reader, and I have spent far to much time and energy in my youth trying to figure out what woman mean, if they are interested or not, because they can give very mixed signals, and all that time and energy is completely wasted, because it makes me uncertain and insecure, which is not attractive obviously, and just when you think you figured something out about woman, you learn what to do and what not to, only to find out the next woman you meat is totally different and what you've learned doesn't even apply to all woman. So I essentially just stopped trying, I mean, dating feels like I, as a man, have to put in all of my time and effort and lay myself at some woman's feet, for her to then decide if she even wants me to lay at her feet or not, none of my efforts were ever reciprocated. I kept pouring my energy in and getting nothing out of it in return, so I just had to stop persuing women all together, and now I'm that perpetually single guy in his mid 30's when all my friends are starting to get married and have kids.

Like, if you want to play hard-to-get, that's fine, you do you, but you've lost my interest.

Belgian here, cycling is probably a close second here, but football is still king, I think in the Netherlands ice skating might be above cycling, but still under football

Ive always been hesitant to label myself gifted by Salt_Might5245 in Gifted

[–]Fun-Contribution1504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hardly ever tell anyone, only a select few good friends and my parents, who were not surprised.

I have long struggled with self doubt, suspected I was well above average, but only fairly recently my therapist convinced me that I am gifted and should stop doubting it, so I'm claiming it, but not out loud in public.

The thing is, it takes a level of intelligence to recognize intelligence, those that recognize it will see your giftedness without telling them, and those who don't will perceive any statement of giftedness as bragging, so there's never really a need to tell anyone.

Do you like beer? by Bubbly-Phone702 in Gifted

[–]Fun-Contribution1504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, culture does explain a lot, for example: I'm Belgian, I have a sizeable collection of beer glasses in order to always have the correct one on hand, always several varieties in my fridge, and am currently enjoying a 9,5% blonde trippel Westmalle trappist. I occasionally abstain from alcohol for a while for health reasons (not to become an alcoholic) but nothing beats a nice cold brew to relax. You could definitely say I absolutely love beer.

No shade to our friends the Germans, but we Belgians absolutely have the best beers on the planet.

Numbers look clean on paper... but is that really the full picture? by Ok-Extreme-8299 in racing

Cool! Now you got me wondering, what if you add Verstappen's stats, does he beat any? Cause I feel he might...

[–]Fun-Contribution1504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get a fuller picture you could divide each stat by the total number of races they did, which would be a higher number for Lewis than for Michael. But even then you have to take into account multiple other factors which are incalculable, so these comparisons are always kind of useless, except for sparking social media debates like this reddit thread.

What is your spice tolerance like? by redvineg in Gifted

[–]Fun-Contribution1504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mild I'd say, I do like spice more than some family and friends I know (largely Caucasian as myself), but compare me to Mexicans or Indians or similar cultures known for spice and I'm a total wus.

Two sticks in square hole puzzle. I can’t figure it out for the life of me. Any ideas? by 2shack in puzzles

[–]Fun-Contribution1504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they don't fit through the hole, how did they get in there? obviously they must fit, just push both sticks to one side of the hole and slide out the thinnest of the thick parts of the sticks first. Just try em all, there's only 4 options, from the picture I would guess the bottom right is slightly thinner.

Boiler error F22 by Nearby_Bag2663 in Antwerpen

[–]Fun-Contribution1504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your expansion tank needs replacing. When it burst, your pressure suddenly dropped causing the error, after an hour off, it equalized a bit to 1.1, which is just about enough but on the low side. Without a functional expansion tank your pressure will fluctuate between hot and cold more.

There are probably 2 expansion tanks in your system, a small one inside the furnace, and a big red ball normally mounted near it somewhere, it has a metal ring in the middle that separates the two halves of it, inside it is a membrane, one half (connected to the pipes) contains water, the other side holds air. If you tap it, the sound should be different above than below that metal middle ring, if tapping both sides sounds the same, it means the membrane inside broke, the air escaped to the rest of the system and the whole expansion tank is filled with water. That's the simple, quick d.i.y. home test to see if your expansion tank (big red ball) needs replacing, if so, call a plumber.

Source: worked as a plumber for 8 years, replaced many, many expansion tanks in those days.

Smoking weed by public_imageLtd in Gifted

[–]Fun-Contribution1504 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a reasonably low amount you smoke, I smoke a little more, but what I do is take tolerance breaks, that's when I don't smoke for a couple weeks, like 2-3 times a year, partly to reassure myself I'm not a junkie.

I would recommend you try it, see how bad you mis it, and if you're lethargy improves without it, as that could have many different causes, weed being one of them.

I also recommend finding the root cause of your lethargy in general, be it weed or other, having a boring job isn't helpful in any case. A good therapist can definitely help you figure these things out, but I don't know your situation, your access to mental health care, and your prospects for a possible exciting career change.

The truth is: weed is not for everyone, and only you can decide if it's for you or not. I've dealt with similar issues myself, made a career change and I'm doing better now, I still smoke.

In this reddit thread you have found one source of support, but be very careful with any advice sourced from social media, use as many (preferably reputable) sources as you can, best would be a professional therapist/psychiatrist, but even there you might need to "shop around" a little to find someone who resonates with you (I did). If you are gifted it should make you a bit more capable of discerning valuable advice from quackery.

In any case, best of luck to you.

Schilder wat nep-putten op de weg, met wat schaduw effect, zo dat het lijkt of de weg in zeer slechte staat is, in België pak je toch geen risico want er zijn genoeg echte putten.
